I know alot of guys want new every year or two BUT I like my Apex GT ;)! so much I am planning on a long term relationship. :D

The motor should be no issue, :4STroke: I mean valve adjust at 25K, tunnel, bulk head should last ( I am older and wiser and now do my fast on the Smoooth much less bent and broke stuff), A- arms +/-, skid +/-, it maybe that both will go a long time if lubed and not abused. Certainly need tracks every 5 - 10 K.

I mean what will cause me to change?

I have power, smooth, reliable, E start, reverse, no smell and good looking to boot.

I think my wife will like this sled when I tire of it. So we are looking at a long term relationship!

I think the Yamaha marketing guys are gonna have their hands full moving many of us on.

It will have to be emotional and not practical / machanical, I am thinking
Of course those marketing guys / and engineers are good and the grass always seems greener............... Who knows?

MY 2 cents

I agree especially here in the frozen north where with tax you are talking $16,000 plus with $5,000 depreciation the first year.

I plan on keeping mine for the next 4-5 years at least. If all is good, I should have close to 25000 miles on it at that point!

Been der dun dat & failed in that thinking. When the newer, lighter, more powerful, models come out that theory gets blown to hell. Been saying that every winter since my 1997 700 MM.

I'm going to keep mine too. But I am also going to buy a NEW (to me)/used one. I have seen a couple of pretty good deals on used ones this spring and I will keep my eyes peeled for more good deals this fall. With chassis maintenence why couldn't these things run 50,000 miles? 10 grand for a new one vs. 7 g's or less for a used one??????.....Hmmmm. I love tearing'em apart anyway so it's used or take advantage of a dealer blowing one out of inventory. Besides I rode all the 07's and with the exception of the RTX my (allready set up) 06 Attak rode better than all the 07's.

I agree pricleless,The cost per year will likely be much less.
But like TURK said I will likely upgrade as they get lighter/better.

When I really think about it, what would sell me is QUIET.

I mean think about it, my Truck is big powerful and quiet (duramax), the cars sport luxury are powerful and quiet...........I think soon a selling point will be handling, power, speed and QUIET......... I suspect I will be easy to tempt in the future. I like new toys.

I say it everytime I get a new one; "Gonna keep this jewel for years" :drink:

Whats a 5 year old sled worth with 25000 miles on it with no warranty ???

Don't know yet...haven't seen many! But I also won't be losing $4k Cdn each year trading/selling and buying new.

Maybe at that point it won't be worth selling and I'll just keep it...who knows. Long ways away...

I'm keeping mine until they release the 175-180hp 3rd generation genisis motor in a new chassis, which I figure will be in 2008-2009 season. Then it will be gone again. Also, the winters need to increase in duration, because if they keep shortening, then this may be my last sled. We only got 6 weeks of real good groomed trail riding. That's pretty bad. It should of been 8-12 weeks. The last two seasons ended early and this season started 3 weeks late to boot. :drink:

I can say I kept my 700 XTC/D sleeper for now on to 8 yrs. / 10,000miles .
BUT to be honest, I did upgrade the track, clutching and exhaust and intake etc, by Fix Racing so it was not the same all along wow- great sleeper, Mirrors and reverse and "Sure I'll race". Also had 800 XCSP for 2 years _ HTG goodies ( for sale).
So I guess I am not so good at holding on to them with out improving or replacing.

Need change and speed I guess.

Great Dreaming isn't it guys

IM WITH YOU I definitly plan on keeping mine atleast 3 years (or untill its paid off)

I love my sled.. just added some new skis..(even thought the snow has melted) and doing a few tweeks here and there to it..

Sleds are getting to darn expensive to change every other year.. i might as well rent a sled rather than buy one if i were to keep buing every other year!

I plan on buying a 4 or 5 year YES plan.. for this sled..

I'll hold onto my 4 strokes for a few years, Mainly because the resale value sucks right now. So I want to get my moneys worth out of them,Yes I'll add on goodies here and there and when something with more advanced features comes out and it meets my taste I'll go to that but these 4 stroke sleds are like 4 stroke ATV's ride em till they die, which in most cases doesn't happen.

Welter,
your posts on ski's and now purchase has me at 80+ % chance of doing the same, ie, buying the pilot skis. I think I will look at Heydays and then just buy them from the local skidoo shop if I do not find some 'like new' Pilots

It is going to be a long time until we can ride again
