Well guys im going back and forth. I deff need to do somthing to my sled to make it hook up. Currently I have a stock 06 Apex Gt 1.25 ripsaw. I cant make it hook at all. Ive played with the transfer rod, softness of the rear shock and body position.

Here is are the types of trails I ride: groomed, groomed but meelie, crappy, woods/twistie trails and every know and then I groom my own. There are plenty of straights but there always is a good set of twisties at the end.

So I need to hook up and take off. Ive mulled over a couple options but I'm curious what people that have these setups think.

1: Take my 121 stretch it to a 144 put a 1.352 cobra on.

2: Take my 121 stretch it to a 144 put a 1.352 cobra on and put studs on.

3: Take my 121 stretch it to a 144 put a crossover 1.5 track on it

4: Take my 121 stretch it to a 136 and put a crossover 1.5 track on it.

5: Stick with my 121 put a 1.5 crossover track on it

6: Stick with my 121 put a 1.352 Cobra on with studs.

All of the 121 to 144 extensions would be the Muffin works 6deg tip up ext's.

Im stumped, its not about looks for me I dont care if my sled looks long and mean or short and nasty. I just want to hook up and take off.

But keep in mind I need to keep mobility in the Twisties.....

#2...you have got to run studs to hook up!

I completly disagree under many situations. I have never run NY trails, so I can not comment on that, but I can tell you in the U.P., studs would NOT help 95% of the time . In wisconsin, studs could help maybe 75% of time

This year the trails were meelie 80% / packed with 2" of fluff 10% and semi hard packed 5%... the other 5% the trails were a mix.

I really am starting to like the idea of the crossover tracks... They look like the lugs are thicker and would hold up to trail riding...??? But I dont know.... Im sure my brother inlaw is readin/ stalking this LOL. But I need to hook up so I can beet your @ss. next winter

Thats why i first liked the sipsaw over the cobra was lug thickness but my cobra hooks up awsome on hard pack and powder Just sucks on ice. U can tell as the sun sets it starts hookn up more n more.

I've run a Crossover for 3 seasons now.1 of the best investments I have made for my Attak. I've ridden studfree for 6 yrs now and don't see me using them again. GREAT hookup, side bite, brakeing and wear from this track. I'll be pulling it to install on my 11 Apex XTX. Going to narrow the focus of the Attak even more with a 2" Challenger.

On my Apex GT I was never able to hook up without pics. Then I went to 96 up the middle and it was better, but still not good. 144 up the middle 1.375 was the trick and I ride all terrains. One pic for every horse!!

Dave are you running a 1.5 crossover?? Also how much trail riding do you do??

Prob is if I go to a 1.5 I cant do picks because I will severely risk chewing crap up in the tunnel.

Yes, 1.5x144 Don't need pics because I don't run lakes with bare ice. Trail riding is 40% of my riding. BUT, this is UP high speed trail. LOT'S of grades, forest roads and unplowed seasonal roads. Normal icy corners, those with SOME snow, are no problem.

track

i put iceripper tack on gave it a fair chance never felt in control and when you need to stop at high speeds it's not safe for me, also get out on a hard pack road with out studs you ring the track to easy, i put 108 studs down center and now i'm happy. but i'm from the old school.

Im slightly confused... You didnt feel in control with the ice ripper track and it didnt stop very well???
