I drive a '06 Attak, mostly on groomed trails in Ontario. I've had this sled since '06 and had a '03 Viper before that. I very seldom go off trail. Keeping up with Rev's in the tight and twistys would be more important to me then off trail. I've read a dozen reports saying how great the XTX is. The only reason I think I would want it is for better bumb obsorption. I think I would like the SE for better cornering and probably an equivelent ride as what I have or maybe better?
I should mention i'm looking at new 2011 not 2012. I'm a little scared about all the updates they did to the XTX as well. I'm not sure that they changed anything on the SE.
Can anyone tell me what updates there are to the SE, and after riding your SE or XTX what would you recomend for me?
Thanks in advance guys!

The XTX is all around a better sled. You have the longer track that gives you more track on the ground for better hookup a lot like your Attack. The XTX like the SE has Power Steering so the longer track would be lesser felling. And for the SE it has the FOX Maga Shock, I seen two of the that lost pressure and there was a some on here. Have a 136" you may not even fell the longer track. if you can ride one before you buy.
Ill never own a short track sled again. Michigan trails IMHO and where I ride are never that tight to make me not enjoy the ride the other 90% of the time. Go with the XTX!
I have 07 attak and my brother has 11 xtx. In michigan, the trails are sweeping and looser type of pack. I would say the xtx is better than the attak in every way except highfax wear( I think that can be helpped some). In these conditions, The xtx is even more stabil at 100 mph. Where I ride, I would choose an xtx over the se any day. Not sure if I rode a bunch of twisties with icey trails (like wisconsin) what I would do?

Can't comment on XTX as have not driven one.
10,000 on a Warrior, 10,000 on a 06 Apex GT and 4,000 on my 2011 SE.
For aggressive tight and twisties you say you are most concerned with, my choice would be SE. The front suspension height easily adjustable through air pressure. For not so an aggressive rider [like me, I'm slowing down a bit now I am over 60 ] I would go with the standard 128 and save some cash.
I had no issues other than the sled needed semi aggressive Sno Trackers. Whichever one you choose, put them on. No Hyfax issues with slider wear on the shorties. Stud length on Shorties limited to 1.325's. I had no stud issues with no extra protection. Sled has the normal ice build up in the tunnel issue all the rear exhaust Yammie's have.
It is heavy but drives like a light weight with he power steering.
Sled is quick and fast. Stock anything [except I did not race a Turbo Cat] VS my stock 2011 Apex, the Apex wins over 500 feet.

Had the same dilema last year and opted for the XTX. I'm a little older, never go off trail and am very happy with the XTX choice.
I think you will be disapointed in going from a 136 back to a 128. The mono skids ride nice but, don't hook up all that well. The XTX skids hook up very well and ride nice too. The XTX is a lot more fun to ride. They take bigger bumps better, turn just a well as a short track, can pull the front end up at will and float a ton better.
The front shocks on the XTX are excellent as they are. The skid is a little on the stiff side but, is just right for not bottoming out on big bumps.
I put a set of Simmons flex skis on mine just because I had them. The handling is excellent on the trails. We did 600 miles in northen MN last March...it will take a heck of a sled of any brand to run with these. The XTX is capable of going way faster than I wanted to go on any trail. With 153 studs and the flex skis, this sled like a slot car on the trails.
Have had zero problems with mine after 1,600 miles last season.
You will be surprised at how much improved and different the 2011's are over your Attak. Oh, and the engine is incredible! It was a little flat when new but, just keeps running better with more miles.
Good luck with your choice!

Thanks guys. I was really leaning toward the XTX but the updates for 2012 are making me wonder. I know they changed something in the rear suspension, fixed hyfax wear issues and maybe new ski's. As far as I can tell they didn't change anything on the SE.
Since I can't afford a 2012 but can get a good deal on either sled in a 2011 it makes me think they got the SE right the first time and had to modify the XTX to make it right????

Ridden both and prefer my SE. Extra track isn't necessary for my style of riding; groomed trails. Hookup isn't an issue and I'm non-studded. Ride is superb and both the fronts and rear shock are fairly easy to adjust. One thing I didn't care for was the ice build up....especially on the track adjusters of the shorties. Minor issue, but there none-the-less. Handling is great in the twisties although the weight is always perceptible. Power steering is a must on my sleds from here on out; it's that noticable.
You can't go wrong with either, but for me, I didn't care for the extra track length (came from an Attak for five years), and I didn't want non-rebuildables nor more than one shock in the back.....prefer the mono.
Have fun choosing.

If you don't want the longer track. I would go with the regular Apex and save the money over the SE.
I have the XTX and it handles the WI trails just fine. If you are coming from a 136" Attack the 144" will handle just like it.
Have fun shopping.

I just can't think that 128 track will hook up well with 164ish hp. The 121 was a spinner with 150hp. Too me 144 only way to go with Apex. I ride 136 Attak in northern WI handles better than most 121s so going to 144 no big deal just better match to big Yam 4s power band.

X2 the 128 track has only one more Row of lugs on the ground. 144 all the way

Very good point. The SE has one more row of lugs on the ground then an old 121. Does anyone know how many more lugs are "touching" on the ground with the XTX? I'm going to count the rows on my Attak. Maybe the XTX is actually less then the Attak and thus will corner better??

No, but it is the same distance ski tip to ski tip as my 136" vector. They moved the skies back and it looks like the track is more underneath the sled than a normal long track. If you like the 136 Attack I think you would really prefer the XTX.

That's the one I ordered. I have ridden all three and I like the XTX but I think the standard is the plushest in the stutter's. I am going to give it a try, coming from an Attak that was great.dirkdiggler said:the Standard Apex is the one to buy
