OK, so I thought I might as well get a thread going for the weekend since I'm sure I will have some questions for you guys through this process!!! My first question is: what are the little black 'clip' looking things that are attached to the tunnel on each side just in front of the exhaust covers and just below the seat??? I have noticed them on some other sleds and they were on mine when I bought it. I am wondering about doing away with them as they have already rubbed thin spots in my stock seat and I don't want that happening to my brand new Apex seat....any thoughts???
Thanks!!
Thanks!!

Sleddheadd, where did you get the rubber trim piece that's on your tank cover to protect the seat?? It just looks like some windy trim or something....???
Also, will the seat end up just butting up against the tank cover, or does it go underneath it??

In answer to your first question: The clips sound like they were for saddle bags or something like that.
Also, you will want to wrap tape around the two prongs that hold the front of the seat on, and I would also put some velcro on the gas tank & seat bottom to keep the seat from moving around. I had two covers tear on my Attak because the seat loosened up over time.

Alright....that's kinda what I figured, I think they're coming off!!!
Thanks for the heads up!!! I will probably go ahead and put some velcro on, won't take much...

You dont need the trim piece for the install. All you have to do is round off the cut edge of the tank cover so it doesnt cut into the seat with a sharp edge. I just sanded the edge of the cover that I cut and put the seat under the cover like the original seat. I have over 4000 miles on my sled like that without any trim on the tank cover.
You can also put a trim piece on at any time if you dont find one before the next ride. Once you have taken the seat off for the first time, it only takes 1/2 hr to take it off and reinstall it the second time.

Thanks, sobfrogg, but I actually just bought some last night at F & F....only like 2.69 for two 24" strips, so I now have an extra piece as well...haha....I guess is you don't mind you can throw it in if you think about it, if the stuff you got looks nicer than what I got, I may take you up on your offer!!!
Well, I've got some crap to do this morning, and then I plan to get going on my seat and risors project by lunchtime!!! I will let you all know if I have any questions!!!!

That's what the velcro is for...to keep the seat from shifting. The windshield trim is a good idea. FYI: Even an Apex with a shifting seat will cause the seat cover to tear.
