Apex seat on rx1???

seat

I've upgraded 3 RX-1's with these seats over the years. I use a Dremel tool with a cutting disc to trim the tank cover. I also always put a Rox 3 inch articulating riser, and although I have to unbolt the brake line from the antifreeze tank, and reroute a couple other cables, I always been able to get by without changing any cables. IMO this setup makes RX-1 even better than Apex. Better on fuel and warmer. Here's a pic of my 05 with an all black 07 Nytro seat.

I've decided to do this mod to my RX-1. My only question now is how much of a riser did you guys use who did this. I'm 6'2" or so with the boots on and the worst thing with the stock set-up (even with 2" of additional foam in the seat) has been the transition to standing. Is 3" about right?
boomer....i am about 6'1" and i got a 3.5" rox riser from richierich. it is absolutely perfect for me! only problem was the tall windshield i had... had to get a lower profile one but now it is perfect!
sitting to standing on this thing is like a dream! i can't wait to try it on the trail... i, too, had a problem transitioning from sit to stand after a long day and i am a big guy! so by the end of the day my knees were shot! this really seems like it is going to solve the problem!

I finally got everything back together and working. The seat install was a piece of cake, and I used a dremel with a cut off disck to cut the tank cover. Really easy to do and used some windshield trim to finish it off. I got the seat from TY member Silber. Thanks a lot!!! It came with the blue stripe, and I used vinyl fabric dye to change it to Red. I think unless I told anyone while looking at it that it was originally blue you'd never know it. 3" pivot riser from DMAXX finished it off and completely changes the riding position. I can't wait to try it out. I took these pictures today, and even down here in SE Pennsylvania we are getting snow. Hopefully if this keeps up throughout the day I might be able to dig up the yard a little bit. Thanks everyone for the how to on doing this mod!!
