Well what one works better? I have the 05 rx-1 and I need to get a seat for it. Also whats the place to get one? (blue) And what kind of price am I looking at? PLus dont you have to extend the handle bars up? where do you get them at. THanks alot guys...

From what I have heard others say the only difference between the apex and nytro seat is that the foam in the nytro seat is more firm than the apex.
The best thing to do is to find a used one. Keep an eye on the classifieds section, thats where I got mine. Also ebay
I think most go with about a 2" increase in handlebar height.

THe nytro seat and the apex mountain seat are definately more firm. If you want to be higher up in the saddle, you definately want the stiffer seat.

I prefer the stiffer seat myself, in fact, i switched the seat on my wifes vector (a mountain apex seat) with my 07 attak seat.

You need 2 inches, maybe even 3 if the cables will allow. My wife doesnt ride standing much, so 2 was just fine for her.

I have ridden both seats in my '03 RX-1. The Apex seat are softer and I prefer the Apex seat over the Nytro seat as I ride the alot of high mile days on the trails (trails over here are not groomed very often). The stiff Nytro seat wore heavily on my back, and I'm in pretty good shape. Go Apex if you're a highmiler, go Nytro if you're a ditchbanger. Both seats performs great for what they were designed for.

I agree with rxrider's comments about the difference in seats. I have a Nytro seat on my '05 and it is noticibly firmer than my buddy's Apex seat. So it depends on your style. No matter which seat you buy one thing to try is loosening your handlebars and rolling them forward because this actually lifts them some. Depending on how tall you are you may like that. And if it ends up not being enough then you can spend the $$ on the riser (of course you know that means you'll need some different bars and all the wire harness wraps and all that to make it look all pimped out!! :bling )

I'll second rxriders comments. the nytro good for the stunt junkies and bangers, the apex is soooo comfortable.

Between that and the ZX2 I rode 330 miles in one day and zero pain other then my neck from holding my helmet up all day, previous I was shot after 150 miles (bad back).

Yeah I second that too, the ZX-2 and the Apex seat made for a very comfy ride without the seat beeing to soft, what stutter bumps? what washbord trails? No I have not seen any of it on this trail LOL.

You know its funny at the local estalishment on the trail one time, the usual chatting of how are the trails this way or that way. We'll I was telling these one guys that the trails were great where we just were, we ended up meeting them a few hours later again at a different place and they were upset the trail was so rough and when I looked at thier sleds I saw a bunch of old sleds with no suspension with mine sitting right next to it about a foot higher in the air and said "well theres your problem right there" LOL They just laughed, mogualed out trails are actually MORE fun the flat groomed ones now. I let one of them ride mine and I swear he'll be posting on here in a year or so purchasing a new yamaha LOL. My sled just rocks, I'm so happy with it right now and I'm hard to please!

What a difference a year makes. LOL Maxdlx

A year on the ZX-2 with the Apex seat and I'm spoiled hahaha. I second the moguls, when our group hits the moguls I actually speed up where most others slows down, then I stop for a break at the next lake waiting for those with no suspension to catch up :-) I have a old outdated sled that rides better than most of them newer stock ones, I happy with the old lady, and yes she rides better than the Apex RTX !!!

EDIT:
The better handling may be due to the weight savings as well. Last season the accumulated weight savings were at 27.7 kgs or 61 lb, this year the accumulated weight saving is at 39.2 kgs or 86.2 lb with a few more mods planned for. I guess the reduced weight makes up for the increase in handling as well as the ZX-2 and the Fox floats up front.

At 6'2", my legs are longer than average and I found that after riding my Vector, my knees would ache a lot. I considered selling the sled a couple of years ago until I looked into installing a taller seat from MountainMod ($800 Cdn).

No more pain in my knees! The firmer and taller seat helped me.

If you're a taller rider and are uncomfortable on your RX1 seat, then definately upgrade to the Nytro or MountainMod seat.

I also added the 2 inch adjustable Rox riser to raise the handlebars and bring them more forward to complement the new seat.

Do they make an apex seat in black/grey or silver? My RX1 is the matt black/grey version.. so a blue or red seat just wont cut it.

Yes they do. Here's mine.
