Yamaha snowmobiles bagged four wins over the January 7-8 weekend at a pair of USCC season opener events. Corey Davidson led the charge on Saturday at the USCC Cross Country races in Minto, where he won both the Vet 35+ class on an Apex RTX and the Pro Open Mod class on a modified Apex.
The seven-mile course included icy marshes, fields and even a segment of frozen river. Two riders started every 20 seconds, and the one with the lowest elapsed time for three laps got the win. Davidson launched in the second flight and enjoyed mostly clear riding on his way to his Vet 35+ win. But in Pro Open Mod, he started at the back and had to muscle past nearly everyone in the field – only to tie Josh Davis on time. Both riders were awarded first-place points, but a coin toss awarded Davidson the trophy. Adding to the positive results for Yamaha Blue and White was Alaskan Chad Gueco, who piloted his Pierce Racing Apex to third in the 100-mile Pro Stock event.
On Sunday the series moved to Grafton, where an eight-mile course covered a frozen river and woodlands. This time it was Tim Sargent who won the Vet 35+ class on his Apex RTX, while Brad Gebeke took another Apex RTX to victory in the Masters 45+ class. Nice job guys!

Yeah no kidding. Didn't they know that no heavy four stroke can keep up with a 600 in the tight trails? Let alone a modded one

No major mods, still mostly a stocker, they just run more than one class with the same sled. They have the option to change or "mod" parts if they want. Far as I know, the Pro mod or open win was the same sled as the vet+ 35 and Pro 600 or stock. just run at a different time of day.
Corey had trouble in the Pro600 both days, hit a hole in the ice, and a suspension bolt backed out, otherwise he was right there with the two-strokers. just a matter of time and luck.... I think he will win one for Yamaha.

Corey has 2 different sleds that he runs, 1 for the stock class and vet 35 and then his open sled.
Open sled has some mods, mostly White Knuckle exhaust and some airbox mods.
The pro mod wasn't his stocker, but pretty damn close, you can get the exhaust he runs from White Knuckle.

A 1000 Apex beat the 600's? Wow, that's amazing. I predicct this will be the last year they allow this mismatch. There have been teams that dropped out to protest this.
Yamaha will win the Soo, and that will decide it.

Yeah, teams that have done nothing but bash Yamaha and were afraid to get beat. Congrats Corey!
