2013 Apex with 17,000 miles. Never had a hard start issue until this year. Cold starts have been fine it’s happened a few times after stopping for a lunch break after the sled has been sitting about an hour. It initially starts but runs rough like it’s flooded for 5 seconds then stalls. Turn the key again and it fires right up and runs smooth. It’s happened every time this winter after a lunch break. Reminds me of my old 2 strokes when they had vapor lock when the carbs were heat soaked. I suppose not an issue because the sled fires back up after a second turn of the key, but want to head off any issue before it gets worse. Plugs are a few years old.

I would start with plugs, since you stated they are a few years old.

Rode again today no issue cold start and after getting fuel. Had lunch about an hour same thing sputtered like flooded on first turn of the key. Turned key again and started right up and smoothed out. Doesn’t seem like a plug issue, after it’s started runs fine not rough like a plug is fouled. Just changed them a few thousand miles ago. First set of plugs I changed at 13,000 miles and didn’t need to was still running fine. This is definitely a consistent new issue on the hot start. I suppose could change the plugs again and rule that out. Such a pain in the a$$ to do.

No codes acting like an old 2 stroke carb sled on a hot start. Like my sxr 600 red top had to feather the throttle while you pull started it when hotI don't think its plugs. Can you pull up the list of stored codes if there is any?

Need a valve adjustment? I had one with 11000 miles that would stall at stop signs. It then would fire right up and be fine. I suspected a valve adjustment was needed on that one.
