2012 xtx apex -30 cold start problems solved...??

Buy a 100 watt oil pan heating pad from Canadian Tire and glue it with the silicone supplied to the oil tank. Plug it in an hour before your ride and you're good to go.

For an hour or less, the heat travels upwards as well and makes a huge difference. Works excellent

I have one installed under my oil tank works great,
It should fit under the oil tank behind the drain plug,
Putting under the motor won't be as good as putting it under the oil tank, there's not much oil in the motor..

What good is heating oil that is not in the motor. There is approx 1l of oil in the motor and heat rises.

There's been many post on this topic,
Best results were when it was installed under the oil tank not the motor,
I was told by the manufacture when I bought mine was to install it where you have the most oil, it's not going to heat the motor when there is only a litre in there,
When you start your sled the motor will start taking oil from the oil tank which will be warm not frozen like the outside temp and the oil from the oil pan goes into the oil tank so what's the point of heating the oil under the motor if it's going back to the oil in the tank which is frozen,

Yes but by the time that you pump enough oil into the engine to do any good the battery will be dead. Granted it is nice to pump warmer oil into it. Even if there is only 1l of oil in the engine it will warm up faster and the heat rising up from it will keep the engine warmer. IMO

I agree with what you are saying TBay Sledhead,

From what I have seen on past posts and from the company I bought the pad heater from they say that the more fluid you have the better the pad heater will work,

I also have the inline coolant heater, both heaters were installed at the same time and both get plug in when the temps drop so I can't really say which one is doing the better job but all I can say is that my sled starts and sounds a lot better than the apex's in our group that don't have any heaters,

Might be a good idea putting one under the motor also...
