Actually the bearing going bad is often the cause of the sensor failing if it allows the toothed "gear" at the end of the drive shaft to contact the sensor.

Blue Dave is correct.
FYI: You can unhook the wires to the speed sensor to get you home. They are around the secondary. Just trace them from the sensor and unhook the connector.
The engine will now work fine if this was the issue. You should be able to go 30 miles or so. We went 50 miles and just barely avoided damage to the sled.
If it was this, the sled would have shown code 42.
I'd say your dealer is questionable on diagnosis. If it was the bearing, the code 42 should have led them right to it immediatly.
