I looked at the section in Apex FAQ at the sway bar installation instructions. When I look at the pictures of these instructions I do not see anything that would lead me to believe that changing the sway bar would change the handling characteristics. Unless that arms that connect to this bar are a different lenght I do not understand how this will change anything. I must be missing something because the swaybar in the picture looks the same as the one that he took out.
Can somebody explain to me what comes in this kit and how it changes the cornering on the sled?
Thanks,
Brad

The bar will twist end to end, torsionally to do its job , thicker is stiffer !
12mm
13mm

That makes sense! Thanks for the explanation.

the two sides of the suspension go up and down independantly without a swaybar..
with a swaybar the two sides are coupled...as one side moves the feedback is tranfered to the other side...
as the thickness of the bar increases...the "tied togetherness" of the two sides continues to increase in proportion to the increased size...
henceforth...thicker bar...less sway in a turn...more negative feedback when going through the uneven chop...it would especially more noticeable going down the center of a wooped trail where the chop is uneven side to side..

So are you saying that the cornering would be flater but the ride would be rougher?

Another way of looking at it is that the sway bar - if allowed/designed to do it job properly - tries to keep the chassis in line between the skis. One ski goes up, that side of the chassis should try and go up with it. In a corner, the same thing will try to reduce/eliminate the chassis rolling towards the outside of the corner. The thicker the bar, the more effective it is doing that.
With the tippy manner the standard Apex bar allows, many are going with the heavier/thicker bars to reduce/eliminate that issue.

I recently installed the pioneer performance 13mm swaybar on my 07 Apex RTX ER.
My sled handles flatter and I noticed very little new 'harshness' in the ride.
I like a flat handling sled and the Apex is not it. The sway bar has definetly helped, making it much more predictable.
Be sure to compare the middle sections of the bars, the 11mm stock bar looks tiny compared to the 13mm. The end sections are identical.
I used dry graphite lube when assembling to avoid pushing or straining the alignment bushings in the floor pan. The whole job took about 15 minutes.

Thanks, I may need to pick one of these up. Can you give me their website address?
Your comments have been very helpful as I am new to the Apex and trying to learn the tip and tricks.

so your saying just by adding the 13mm sway bar that keeps the skis from pulling in corners and you dont have to do anything else?

It will help...not saying you wont have to do anything else. But I bought it and am expecting it to help. But planning on it not being the end all to the issue.
