Many articles that I have read recently give accolades in general to the Apex for overall performance, however give the vector higher trail handling marks. Any Apex owners care to comment? I am looking at purchasing one or the other.

Best thing to do is use the search option, and research what others have already said and compare their riding style and location to yours. Which is what it really comes down to.

The weight issue might have to do with the difference in handling of the sleds. Other than that, there shouldnt be a difference, expect for motor performance. The vector might do better in the twisties and tight turns...but overall they should be about equal, especially on wide open groomed trails.
I know personally, owning a '07 Yami Apex RTX, I struggle to get the thing to turn, and handle well in the turns. The sled seems to push a real lot. Bought Slydogs and didn't help too much, next step is the 13mm Stabilizer bar.
Other than that, I love this sled!!! I would buy another in a split second!
Vector 3 cylinder...Apex 4 cylinder...whatever you want for HP go with that....other than that, there isn't a difference!!
Good luck, Hope this helps!!

I dont think there is much weight difference between the two.
I cant imagine there being much difference now that they are in the same chassis as far as handling.
I know my wife could ride the tight trails much better in her old style vector than she can her new Apex.

The 13mm bar will help keep the sled flat and have less ski lift, but like most things, has a price, it will take allot of the "plush" ride away from the front. I had a 13mm bar on my 06 RTX, when I bought my 07 Attak, I left the stock bar in it and played with the set more. You will feel every bump and crack in the trail. Just so you know.
I have both a 06 Vector and an 07 Attak. The Attak blows the Vector away in every way possible. For me, it does anyways. My Attak out powers, handles the vector. This may be a bit unfair, however, because I do not have the stock anything left on my Attak. I changed the front shocks and rear end and went to a 144" track.
When my Attak was still in stock form, I still liked my Attak over the vector GT. There isn't that much of a weight difference between the two. Something like 10 lbs, if that. A little over one gallon of fuel.

I tightened the limiter strap 1 notch, put on dooley carbides and set the Fox Floats at 50 PSI on my 06 RTX and I thought it handled awesome.
I recently sold it and bought an 07 RTX that will be setup exactly as the 06 I liked it so much (I swapped the Pro-Active rear suspension for the MONO RA)..

Newbies should be advised to check out owner comments regarding the Proactive suspensions carefully. Look for ratcheting and excessive track/skid component wear.

Vector 3 cylinder 120HP 16-22mpg...Apex 4 cylinder 150HP 12-16mpg What HP do you want ? Other than that there isn't much difference. 150 EFI.... 120 carbs. The 150 will pull your arms off when you hit it 120 more gentle pull. Both great sleds but suggest 136 over 121 for better ride & handling.

You cannot compare a pre 08 vector with the new ones. Totally different sleds. The 08 is in the Apex chasis, the older ones are based on the RX-1 chasis. I have an 07 apex and an 08 vector. I was totally shocked with the difference between the two. The Vector feels 50 plus pounds lighter. Ride them back to back and you will be surprised with the light feel and handling of the Vector compared to the Apex. However, for me, the Apex engine is so much stouter, I will stick with it over the Vector. But, I still cannot believe how much lighter the Vector feels and handles.

Totally agree with you I own a 08 Vector and my father has an Apex and the 2 feel totally different. I'd say the big difference between the handeling is that the vector motor sits lower in so there for it has a lower CG. As for get up and go there is not too much diference up to 80 mph. and fuel economy, well there is quite a bit of difference, last trip I went 160 km and burnt 19 L so pretty good I'd say.

What he said.
08's lower COG in Vector.
Vector handles better.
