--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I have an 06 GT changed gearing from 24 to 23. I guess I have the stage 3 package. Air box mod and windage plate and CR!)EK spark plugs. Also added marginal snow wheel kit to the front of my suspension.

MY father has an 07 Attack. He has the heavy hitter clutching and marginal snow wheel kit in middle area of his suspension.

He pulls me on top end by atleast 3 lenghts everytime and just keeps pulling on long runs. We weigh about the same. I have no idea why I can not beat him. Im a little dissapointed I thought with those performance upgrades I would be able to pull him all day. Im wondering if I should go back to 24 or possibly change my botton gear. I know my track is tighter because im picked and he is not. Maybe I need to change the weights in the clucthing. Looking for some advise so I can final win one. Thanks

Out of the box the Attaks usually are faster. I would go to Attak gearing top/bottom gear and get as much traction as possible. Also I have heard that the air box mods are ????? Can't get enough fuel to them is what I heard. Also I have a different sled with Heavy Hitters but I swear by them. That may be helping the Attak too.

good luck!!

I have found 24 to be better than 23 i have tested both many times, get 3mph faster with 24, raced my buddys attack with my apex, beat him in short runs and long run everytime, you said u have stage 3 kit, is that ulmers kit, where are your rpms at? i would also check and clean clutches make sure everything working good, ajust transfer rod to max when racing to help hook up, check plugs, coils, how old is your belt, deflection, how tight is your track, lots of variables, need more info on what you have to help.

Are you both running a ripsaws?

He might have a stronger motor.. or yours might not be tuned right yet..

Yea, im not to sure were the rpms are at. Im riding this weekend so ill have a better idea.
We both have ripsaws. His belt actually has more miles on it then mine. My track is tighter but it has to be because of my studs. We both cleaned our clucthes at the same time.
Maybe ill put my 24 back in this weekend and see what happens. Im only losing on top end. I hope it is not the air box considering it supposed to help on top end and thats a big reason why I switched to the 23.
When you ask about deflection I assume your talking about the windshield and if so we have the same one.
I have 3000 miles and he has 6500.

Go back to stock weights get pri. or.sl.or. (oem) 24 top gear stock helix 6-1

Its more then likey the longer track more hook up.

I made my APEX 121" to a 144" On the GPS and the GUN I have 4 mph more but the guage shows 10 mph slower then I did last year.
longer track=more hookup
short track=less hookup.

BUT that is what I think.

:rocks:

if i go back to 24 then i will have to change my clutching. anything i can do about my track being tighter becasue of picks. can I add something like a 4th wheel or maybe a slicker set of hyfax to make up for a tighter track?

How many studs do you have??? A sled with studs always runs slower in snow on the top end due to more rotating weight. 192 studs weighs something like 12+ pounds. The 136 track weighs a little more but not even close to the weight of the studs in your track. The weight robs hp unless you need traction for ice or hardpack. Even on hardpack he will pass you on the top end if he has enough room and time .

121" run w/PINK secondary spring...we changed my budy's to a WHITE wound 3-3/60 deg. same as my 136" and he gained 2 - 3 sled lenghts from his stock set up on the same run against my 136"...we're scrapping paint from hole shot to top end...it makes a big difference and cheap to do!
