You know this how? Source?
Seems unlikely to me since some are hard to start and some are not, unless they changed the mapping part way through the production run.

ya the grapevine.... start making some phone calls and you will here the truth..
Soon as I get my 2011 I'll read out the factory ECU and see if it's lean or not as compared to previous ECU mapping.

Hello
I bought my first Yamaha, Apex XTX, one month ago, and I'm very pleased. So I'm new to this forum and new to Yamaha, but I'm used to the snowmobiles that will give most fun. My previously snowmobiles are Mach Z 1000, XCR 800, Storm 800, and many years ago Storm 750, Indy RXL, Indy 650, Indy 600.
I have allways been used to the big triples, and when I bought the Mach Z (one year old) in 2007, I was wondering if this big 2 cyl, would give me the same fun as the triples. I didn't get dissapointed. I loved the Mach Z from I bought it, until I tried this Yamaha Apex XTX in spring 2010. I've tried many snowmobiles, but nothing like this. I liked it very much. I was beginning to look for a new sled, and it had to be a 4-stroke this time. If I want some more power, I have the possibility to add a Turbo in the future, and thats because it had to be a 4-stroke. I tried the Cat Z1 Turbo, it felt to heavy, a little slow from start, but very fast in the midrange. I tried the Doo 1200, very fast from start, but to little top speed. It was I very nice sled, I can see why a lot of people buys that sled. But when I tried the Apex XTX, no doubt, this was my next sled. Very expensive here in Norway, with a 44mm(1,73") track 176000 NOK, in US dollars almost 30 000. I can't understand why you are complaining about 15000 USD (hehe). We have very much tax here in Norway.
The XTX is very fast from start, and I think it have a ok top speed, even with a 1,73" track. No problems up to 105 MPH, 10100 RPM. I suppose when it break in, I will get 10700-10800 RPM.
I don't think any oem sleds will be any faster, not from start, and not on top. I'm sure the Doo etec and Cats new 800, will be around as fast as the XTX, but it want be any faster.

Yamaha dealer sales the snow skull decal kit. I have the same decal kit on my 2011 red apex. Looks great and it's different then other stock sleds.
