Apex XTX rear springs

I think they are stiffer than the stock spring. I have mine on the softest setting right now trying to dial them in. I have pulled the limiter strap down one notch and that made a huge difference. I have my clicker adjustment two up from wide open.
I have about 1700 miles on it so I have a lot to play with before I am happy witht he way it rides. I weigh about 250 so it does bottom out occasionally. There is a lot left in that suspension.

Trying to soften one up a bit. have the clicker soft, front spring soft, and the springs on soft, transfer to max. Traded front springs for some off std Apex. Would really like to soften the rear a little more. Pioneer has revalved the shock. Starting to think I cant soften it up for current application. Sled has 6000 miles on it, running out of things to tweak.

i have seen pictures of you sasquatch and you are not a small rider by any means.

mine quit bottoming on the front when i put a set of gytr shocks on the front. i have never bottomed the rear at all with the shock on soft and the springs on soft as well and i am 250lb without my gear. i even have a set of saddle bags on the rear with all my emergency stuff in them.

Mine bottoms out rarely on high unless I am bagging it then I bottom a bit more but not harshly. I'm going to order a different adjuster from Star Suspensions that will give me a bit more preload.

Yamaha does have a softer spring (so I'm told) so for those not as fat enhanced there is that option!

I have priced those springs. not cheap at $200.00 ish per spring and that is with my discount.

I was told no stiffer spring for the XTX. They have a softer one you can buy. I'd rather have a stiffer spring.
I Was told by 3 dealers that the optional XTX spring is actually a stiffer spring than stock, not what I want, but I think what you want.

Hmmm this I have to look into a bit further then! One time I really hope I'm wrong!

Does anyone know what the optional rear springs are?? stiffer, or softer?

From all of the available spring research that I did when I installed a XTX skid into my '06 Apex here is what I found:

The Apex XTX comes stock with a rear torsion spring that is rated at 1500nm.

There is a optional spring on the parts list that is rated at 1200nm. This is the same spring that is stock on the Nytro XTX.

There is also a optional spring listed for the Nytro XTX that is rated at 1400nm.

I could not find any OEM Yamaha springs with a higher rating than the stock Apex XTX spring at 1500nm. If you look at the Yamaha USA parts website you can find the part numbers and spring rating for any of the available springs under each sled year and model. I found them listed in the "Rear Track Suspension 2" category on their website.

A couple of years ago I checked with Ulmer Racing and they offered three stiffer springs that were rated at 1600nm, 1900nm and 2200nm for the XTX skid. I checked their website recently and did not see any springs listed, but it might be worth a call to them to see if they still carry these springs if you need a stiffer one in your XTX.

I'm running a titanium spring that's rated at 2000nm in my Apex XTX skid with good results.

Just checked out your sled in your VX1R link and wow, what a great looking machine! ;)!

sasquatch, you might want to look into the stock venture springs. from what i saw on viperdave's apex with the venture skid, they are heavyer than the stock ones on an xtx.
