I'm pretty interested in the new Cat F1100. There is hardly any info about it on the net when it comes to ride reports. I can find ride reports about the 800 and lots more about the turbo 1100, but very few about the naturally aspirated (NA)1100. Cat didn't offer the public any demo rides for their new sleds so I'm thinking the NA 1100 is a turd. I'm assuming it rides and handles well, but the motor is listed at something like 123 HP. Do you think this sled is a serious offering for the 600 class or something they are producing because of EPA requirements? They don't offer a consumer version, 600cc 2 stroke.

They didn't offer a 2 stroke because they don't have a 2 stroke engine that meets the 2012 EPA regulations.

The internet rumor is they will be releasing a 2 stroke that meets the regs in 2014. Their deal with their engine manufacturer expires in 2014 and AC intendes to cut their connections with that company and produce their own engines. Supposedly a direct injection type.

Personally, I don't believe that. I think that AC knows that 4 stroke is the way to go and are hoping to steal a chunk of the market away from the other brands.

For years Cat riders have asked for better gas milage. 4 stroke was the easiest and quickest way to provide this. I know. I'm a former Cat owner. When I bought my nytro, I looked at what was offered and as soon as I saw that they didn't offer a crossover type with better gas milage, I went back to Yamaha.

As for demo rides, in my neck of the woods, the local AC dealer doesn't do demo rides. Stupid part is the other three dealers do them, or you can ask to borrow a demo for the day.

Saw the Procross 1100 turbo for the first time a couple weeks ago, wish it was Yamaha's new Nytro..............

Huh... that review didn't sound very encouraging. My Vector had good power for 120 HP and I'd never thought of it being similar to a 500cc two stroke. I've not heard or read about an reliability issues with Cat's 4 stroke twin, but it didn't seem to be special in any way. I saw a brand new, left over '07 Jaguar being advertised for sale recently in a flyer. They just didn't sell very well up here.

I'd like to ride one since the Procross is a lot lighter than the Jag. Still, if the motor doesn't produce a lot of power, I don't think its going to be very competitive for XC racing. It is available on the race program but seems like a big leap of faith to buy one without first being able to ride it.

The 1100 N/A will give any 600cc 2 stroke a run for the money. Ask your dealer as thay all got to ride each model at the dealer demo ride. 123hp has more torque and a flatter power band.

Sounds like you must have ridden a Jaguar or Z1? Can you say more about it? The dealership I talked to wasn't very stoked about the 1100. I figured that was probably because they had a hard time selling the 4-strokes. From what I've seen, not many in Alaska are very fond of 4-strokes. The Cats that were brought into the state were non-running models. They didn't mention that they'd ridden the new models.

There was another dealer from Sioux Falls SD over on hardcoresledder.com that rode the non turbo 1100 and didn't have anything positive to say about the power. Just seem like there is more negative about the 1100's power than positive.

The problem is for little bit of money you can get the turbo. I have rode a Z1 and power seemed low compared to my attak ofcoarse but linear pull. Now that the sled is a bunch lighter and better flow for the motor I think poeple are going to be surprised. I dont think it will beat a new Vector but be right there and maybe beat your 05. I think the turbo is the better buy and only a 30lb power adder! Insurance will be the same and resale will be much higher IMHO.

go with the turbo.... for about $1000 you can have it at 280hp.... quite easily.. the non turbo is no slowch, but the turbo just puts it in a class of its own.

I agree that if the price difference is that small, then it would make sense to buy the turbo. But, because I also want to race the sled in our state's cross country races, it can't have a turbo. Right now I don't believe the 1100 even meets ISR rules since its like a 1056 and the cut off is 1049. I've gotta believe they will change that as I heard Cat will be pushing for guys to race the 1100 in the Iron Dog.

I feel better reading that the power is similar to my old Vector. Is the 1100's power concentrated more down low and in the middle? My Vector never had any kind of hit and revved slower than my Nytro. But I always thought it did just fine considering it was a heavier sled. It was faster on top end than my Nytro.
