Wondering if the viper problems have been resolved on the 2015 models? was looking at a left over 14 but after reading about starting issues, starting failing and bogging out, well i don't want to bad mouth them but I read and seen enough that I want to pass on the 2014.

Any problems with the 2015's??

I would not be afaraid of the 14. 4000 miles trouble free. friend had a chaincase go but warrenty covered it. Most happy people are just that but the 2% with a problem tell everyone. Anything mechanical assembeled by people can have a problem but I think a vast majority of people have been trouble free. Go on any manufacturer specfific websight and you may be led to believe they are all junk. But that is not the case. I have been an auto tech for close to 30 years and have seen 80k cars break down with a few hundred miles on them. Doesent mean every one will. Stuff hapens. Havent heard of any repete failurs once repaired they seem to be very reliable. And fun!!!

well that was my first thought ,so i said i have try see for myself. I made a 2 hour drive to a dealer that had 2014 in stock, I took a look and really liked the sled, he starts it up and the oil light flash's a few times, and the temp light on, so I ask about it and he says the oil light stays on until temp light comes off, as he telling me that the oil light goes off.but temp still on because its not warm. I thought that was odd. anyways we shut it down and go inside to talk price. we come back out to test drive starts up , now i notice the oil light is staying on, I ask again he says it normal. we talking sled quits he restarts and it keeps stalling . they come out put gas in say its out of gas same result. Now I say well temp lights off oil lights still and i thing it stalling because of low oil pressure senor. I say does it have oil, so they go to check oil took them a while to find the sight window as they where looking for a stick. well no they confirmed there was oil so he get son and punches it, makes across street before it stall, after several restarts it comes back half running into shop. long story short they could not make it run long enough for a test drive, dealer pretty much made it clear he thought the cat was junk and i should by a 2012 left over vector he had, hmmm I drove home thinking I guess there no way i could buy one. I read several problems i also spent hours on the cat site they seem to be having the same problem.I smart enough to read between the lines about brand loyal. But I just is no way I could bring myself to buy the 14 even at the low price of 7999.00 , sometime I wondering why i would consider a 2015, But i love the sled. You guys that have had no problems with the 2014 I would consider yourself lucky. I wasn't going to bring this up on yamaha site ,but when you put a 2% number out there your just making it up. If I was going to guess I say its up at least 25% have you watched the Yellowknife videos , Poor guys on doo now!

Well i would say you have a very poor dealer that would even try to show you a sled that didnt run. As far as brand loyalty goes I have ridden polaris for the last 27 years. last yamaha was in 87. From the people i know and ride with on diferent brands I can assure the they all have problems. As far as yellowknife goes owning any 4 stroke when its constantly -40 no heated garage and riding what is known as mainley a trail sled in deep powder/breaking trail is a joke. He is much better off on a high country. Viper was not ment for those conditions. Like going off roading in a prius. may be posible but not much fun.

My 2015 has not had any issues. Especially any that the 2014 owners have experienced. Put 1,000 miles on this year. Sled has performed flawlessly! Very happy with the product and performance.

15 800 miles no issues other than exhaust gasket to close but easy fix

I have a 14, never had any issues with it at all, had the reflash done and no issues after... Put gas in and ride... I'd say your dealer wasn't to bright

No mechanical issues in 1200 miles on mine, but its still 90% Cat.
I will not keep this sled forever, yamaha comes out with something of their own, this thing is the dealers!

2014 LTX SE. Closing in on 6000 miles and not a problem. Keeps getting better. It's getting so good that I am calling in sick tomorrow to put on another 300 miles tomorrow. It has never not started even at -38c.

Reading several posts does not make these things "routine" I too have 500-600 mile experience of no issues on a 15 STX DX.
If you followed this site for years as I have. We read how each model Apex,Vector Venture had issues then we loved them and they were the BEST EVER.

I purchased a Viper and have had no issues- no hard starts, no starter issues. So far so good.

My 14 ltx-se has 3200klms and it had hot start issues last winter but after the reflash it has been flawless. My 15 ltx-dx has 500 klms and has had zero issues, I'm very happy with both sleds. If I was to buy another sled right now it would still be a viper.

My '14 LTX-SE is just coming up to 5,000 mi on it with no problems. Yes last season I did experience the warm start issue, but all that involved was just cranking it a little longer than normal until she fired. The sled never left me stranded anywhere because of this. New fuel map for this year has pretty much cleared that up. No chaincase or starter issues at all. I also have a '11 Nytro XTX with 9,000 mi on it and I've never had a starter issue with that either. The '14's were very good sleds for being the first year. I do believe that this particular dealer has done something wrong with this sled. I've never seen my oil light on accept when I shut the motor off and leave the key on. Dealer prep is everything with these machines! I prob wouldn't buy a '15 from them either. Best dealers to buy a Viper from IMO are dealers that are longstanding Yamaha AND Arctic Cat dealers. They know everything about how to set these beasts up.

'15 XTX only 700 miles this year but no issues. Best trail sled I've owned. Take the time to set it up for you and no one will catch you.
