Hey a friend of mine bought a used Attack with only 700 miles on it. Anyhow when you get on it, it sounds like the drive train is ratcheting. He took it too a dealer and they said they all make that noise. Sounds weird to me. So is there any issues that all you Attack owners know about that could be making this noise? Or point him in the right direction.

There maybe a post about this but I didnt feel like looking through 267 post to find it.

Thanks

Due to the reverse set-up there is a lot of play in the chain case. Take a hold of the secondary and turn it back and forth and you will see how much play there is. Mine clunks pretty loud when I'm on and off the brake at slow speeds.

Friend of mine has an Attak and it seems that if the track tension is less than the top of the guide on the clip being just above the bottom of the hyfax when lifted with no weight on it, it will ratchet. If that makes any sense.

mine clunks when going slow over bumps..must be like he said it's the suspension making noises.

The SPEEDO bearings are subject to fail prematurely on these sleds you might want to check it out, it can vibe or sound pretty bad when they start to seize up due to lack of grease or RUST due to moisture caused by melting snow...

I grease mine a few times during the riding season with a NEEDLE attachement on my grease gun, just get in between the seal near the centre of bearing and inject a bit of grease you don't have to put in a TON

Once the season over I replace it with a new 1 every year for peice of mind ($40.00) and keep the old 1 if still in good shape as a spare in you sled, clean it out and re-pack it with fresh GREASE.

Tighten your track if it is ratcheting when you nail it. Only tighten a half turn at a time until it stops. Mine does the same thing and it has to be adjusted frequently. Be careful though, because if you get it too tight you'll smoke your sliders (hyfax). Does anyone know where to get some drivers that do not have these problems, so we do not have to do this constant tweaking?

You could just tighten it to spec, then it won't ratchet. Oh, and I might point out that you can have the track banjo string tight and it won't come close to the tension thats caused by leaning on the throttle, so that overtight-causes-slider-wear theory goes right out the window.
