Have you checked the anti freeze. Some found they where mixed more like 80/20 anti freeze to water. Once diluted to 50/50 they ran fine. I have rode with alot of these sleds in marginal snow conditions, and not many of them overheated. I would start witht he anti freeze first. Maxdlx
ps there is a rx rear exchanger on ebay, that I think will work for you and it is at 67 bucks. Maxdlx

Items that will help;

Scratchers
Water Wetter
Studs for safety and kicking up snow.
Engine Ice
Snow on running boards.
Make sure your coolant fan is working.
Dilute Antifreeze to minimum temp for your area.

This has been a fairly common problem. If all else fails and you plan on keeping the sled, buy and install the rear heat exchanger. It is an easy install and should forever solve your problems. I run at 170F into the wind, and 180F with the wind at my back. No worries.

I installed the rear heat exchanger on my Attak GT last year and have not had a heating problem since..
The other benefit of the rear heat exchanger is that it melts all of the snow from the rear area saving a lot of weight in frozen snow and ice that gathers in that area without the heat exchanger.

All you have to do is drain your coolant and go with "engine ice"

I drained my coolant in my brand new attack in 2006.I went riding with 2 other brand new Attacks for my first ride that winter. They both got hot after some drag racing both sleds fans and lights Came on. The light never came on on mine or the fan.

Lot's of posts on this. I put one on mine and haven't overheat since..

Some of the Guys here said all the other stuff didn't work until they put on the exchanger.. I went right for the throat and put one one.

By the way.... My best friend has 2 4 stoke CATS and his always over heats on cold days when the trails are frozen. Both my Yamaha VMax and ATTAK never overheated while rideing with him..We had to stop all the time because of them..His Dealer in Linclon,NH said there isn't anything that can be done.

So be careful on how you jump on Yami....with lot's of shouting..with Cap's. Karma comes back around.

RX1's had the same problem and the same answer from Yamaha. Bite the bullet now and install the correct rear heat exchanger and forget about it, before you really overheat it and do damage.

I INSTALLED THE REAR EXCHANGER. WORKED WELL TO COOL THE SLED IN ICY CONDITIONS BUT HAD TO TAKE IT OFF AFTER THE FIRST WEEKEND AS THE STUDS WERE JUST ABOUT TO SHRED IT. DEALER SHRUGS SHOULDERS-YAMAHA WONT'FIX=REPAIR. THIS DAMM THING IS JUST TOO BIG TO FIT WHERE YAMAHA DESIGNED IT. THE SHORT TRACK GUYS HAVE NO ISSUES WITH THEIR R.HEAR EXCHANGERS. I INSTALLED ICE SCRATCHERS--NO HEATING ISSUES SINCE AND SAVES YOUR HYFAX :o|

Maybe you should read more and complain less. It has been posted on here since day one that if you add the rear cooler you need to add at least 1 inch but 1.25 inch protectors are better to cover the rear cooler. There are several posts on here, and pics from people who made there own, and provided them to the rest to make it easier. The short track rear exchanger is no where near what the long track one is. Try less shouting, and use more tact, you may get more help. Maxdlx

WELL EXCUSSSEE MEE. SORRY GUESS I SHOULD SEND THIS POST TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS INSTALLED. + REMOVED. BUT! THIS THING IS STILL TO LARGE TO FIT HERE. IT REDUCES YOUR SUSPENSION TRAVEL BEFORE BOTTOMING

cooler

I put pioneer performance rear cooler on my 136. Also engine ice antifreeze. The sled is supercharged. Sled never gets hotter than 172 degres when riding and stays at 158 in loose snow. It flat out works. For protection I put 1 inch square tubes on top of the factory protecters about 3 inches back and over the cooler. Studs dont hit and they are 1450s. I dont notice any lost in travel. Works good for me.

How did they put it in. There is no way it should limit suspension travel. I have the exact same cooler on my warrior, and it doesn't hinder suspension travel at all. If it is tucked up in the tunnel extension the way it is supposed to, there is no way it can limit travel. Maybe your dealer does need to spend more time here as it sounds like they installed it wrong. Notice I didn't need the caps lock at all, and I have way more than 3 post's. Maxdlx
