Team sprockets are about the same price. Personally, I saw no reason to vary from OEM.

Allen Ulmer sells sprockets for exactly the same price as TEAM. You might consider calling or emailing him...find out what brand he sells, and his take on OEM vs other.

can you run a Team HYVO bottom sprocket with a yamaha top sprocket and chain or do you have to go one way or the other

As long as they're the same size with a Hyvo cut, I can't see why it would matter. I guess the question is not size or fitment, but the quality of the sprocket, Yamaha vs TEAM. I don't know about accuracy of machining or longevity of one brand vs the other. I opted for a Yamaha top gear simply because I have experience with Yamaha parts and have found them to be of good quality. TEAM may be just as good, maybe even better, but personally I have no experience. I've seen some guys write about the shimming being different with aftermarket gears in order to get them to line up - I went with the brand I know, and because I know the Yammie would be a drop-in.

The Team top gears will interchange just fine, but the bottom sprokets that Team offers are for non-reverse models only.
