Just a few hundred miles after I just finished installing worn out donuts with Copper ones ( 2nd time) as well as a new head gasket, exhaust gaskets at the beginning of last season it produced an exhaust leak. I rode it for about 1000 miles that way then stopped as I picked up another 07 with 820 miles on it.
I took it apart last week and found the issue was a Flex pipe broke at the seam. I saw a post here of someone who had it break in the same spot... So anyone doing their exhaust with mileage like mine if they can get a lower mileage set of used Flex pipes do it.
Some things to note. The copper donuts looked new still. Also I had replaced the Allen head OEM bolts for the hanger brackets with a grade 8 Allen head from Tractor Supply's selection in the trays. Those came right out and looked better then my 07 OEM Allen head's with 1200 miles on it. The rubber plugs that cover the holes will still go back but will have the Allen head bulging the center some due to it's deeper head. As you know lot's of us struggle with those frozen Allen head OEM's. My new old 07 AttakGT with 1200 miles I'm doing at the same time even though it's still fine right now. I'm putting in Copper donuts ,grade 8 Allen hanger bolts and new SS pipes. I'll be selling the 07 with a little over 10 k on it.
Someone said the new OEM donut gaskets are thicker etc. I am tempted but it seems others here like the Copper..
