A buddy of mine just put a deposit on a left over Attak. He is a little worried about the long track. Neither one of us have ever had or ridden a long track but he loves my Apex. There are not any leftover Apex's in the area or he would definatly buy one. Can you please explain the difference in handling, traction, ride, etc, and what you can expect going from a short track to a long track. Thank you for your input.

Long track rides better, accelerates better, and has no top end loss over the short track. Doe's not fly as well over jumps however. I would not even look to buy a short track anymore after the last seven 136" sleds I have owned. It is the better choice for me. My buddies that own short tracks now, say they will be purchasing long track machines after ridding my Attak's.

I believe Village Rentals (Speculator, NY) still has a left over Apex GT (121). 518-548-RENT. Just in case you still want a 121.

Long track forever

I have always owned a 121 until this year. Over the last summer I did the following mods to my 2007 Apex GT:

Lowered front suspension
23 tooth top gear
white spring in secondary
big boy spring from yamaha (rear shock)
added 4th rear idler wheel
121 - 136 rail extensions
tunnel extension

I absolutely LOVE my new Apex.
It rails through the corners exactly the same as it did before the extension. It pulls much harder on hard pack and loose trail riding and it plains out on the deep snow if you lean backward. I cannot say enough about the difference in performance since I have extended it. All friends who have tried it since the extension can't believe how much of an improvement it made and the extra length helps bridge across the bumps for a smoother ride.
I would recommend that you purchase the Attak!
wish that I would have just purchased an Attak last year and saved me the work of extending it myself.
I have to admit, the '07 Apex GT (black) extended to a 136" looks very cool!

I had an 06 Apex GT and just picked up an 07 Attack. I have only ridden 222 miles on the Attack on nice wide groomed trails. So far I would say the Attack handling is pretty close, the ride better and acceleration better.

Test drove an Apex GT and then an Attak GT and could feel several differences between the two. Long story short, I love the Attak. It's the first 136" I've owned and won't buy another short track again. You won't be disapointed. Just my opinion.

My response is limited to the Apex vs. Attak rather than any 121" sled vs a 136" sled. Ride quality, traction, etc are much better on the Attak. Handling is equal. You didn't mentioin stability, but the Attak is also more stable due to the longer track.

i have been ridding short track sleds for over two decades and since ive been ridding my attak i wonder why they even make sleds in 121 inch. tell your bud to buy that 136.

I just stretched my Apex GT and love all the attributes of the 136". That being said, I got on my bud's 121 Apex the other day halfway through a 200 mile ride and took his at an 8/10's pace through the woods on groomed logging roads. His moves around more and feels more active underneath you. Its easier to back into a corner, whereas mine feels more solid and sure footed, almost to the point of being slower through the twisties, but when on my 136, I can leave him everytime. Looking back on it, I'm glad I did the 136.
