Looking for some pics and info from someone who has installed a rear cooler ( the big one) into the factory tunnel ext. Have read other posts about installing a rear cooler but none cover a factory cooler in the factory tunnel ext.
Thanks

I have installed the larger Yamaha rear cooler for the 136" Attak on two sleds. I did have to shorten the aluminum tube tunnel protectors. The coolers come with instructions and rivets. Instructions tell you to cut a hole in both sides of the tunnel to install the new cooler, I only cut a hole in one side and worked the cooler in place. I took my time and cut very carefully. Best thing I ever did for my Attak. NO ice build up, NO overheating. I tried to see if I could remove the protectors since I am not studded, but you can not get to the front rivets without removing the engine. I raised the sled up with a cherry picker (engine lift), and dropped the suspension to get more room to work. You may need to check with someone who is studded. I think you will need to add some protection to the existing protectors. Note: the newer coolers do have the fins notched for tunnel protectors since the newer year sleds came with coolers. Only problem is you can not remove the old protectors very easy because of those front rivets to change them over to the new tunnel protectors with the rear bent to clear the cooler.

I cut both sides to make it match an it made it easier to install x2 no more heat issues or ice build up.

My used cooler has those reliefs for the tunnel protectors. Do I need to remove the protectors or drop them down so the cooler will fit or get the tunnel protectors that fit the Attak with the rear cooler option?

Where did you get the cooler from?

Thanks for the pics. I see you cut off the protectors. I will need to keep them as I am running studs.
I am guessing that I need to drop down the tunnel protectors.
Didn't want tremove the exhaust again.
