Attak Skis

With sled sitting on level floor push front bumper down and allow it to come back up unassisted. From there adjust skis so they are set at 0 to 1/8" toed in.

Setting your toe-in & toe-out.
1. With your sled sitting in the garage push on rear and front bumper and allow sled to come back up to height on it's own. This will set the sled at a normal "ride height" so you can set the toe-in/toe-out.
2. Measure from the front of the ski where the rib ends to the other ski where the rib ends from outside to outside.
3. Now measure from the rear of the ski where the rib ends to the other ski where the rib ends from the outside to outside.
4. Your measurement from front to rear should be at "0" (also known as neutral) or 1/8" narrower in the front (toed-in).
5. If you have to adjust them simply undo the 12mm nut & bolt on the tie rod and also loosen the 14mm jam nut. Adjust in 1/2 turn increments until your skis are set as described in #4.

The powder hounds are amazing, how ever for tail use only I think I would switch to the narrower slydog. Either one is simply unbeliable!

I have the same USI skis and they do steer heavy, but no darting. Can't the USI skis be mounted in one of three holes which affects steering effort? Which hole would give the easiest steering, the front or rear hole?

good information ulmer...very helpful

Bottom line is this...the easier steering ski's like a slydog or simmons (when set up properly) will have a tendency to understeer...

aggressive ski's the more towards the point and shoot" they are the more the darting and heavy feeling..

I ran the simmons ...set up correctly..with an aggressive carbide and to me it was a nice balance..not too heavy for me and a ever so slight understeer leading to strong bite with no darting..
predictable and controlled..

I have a new set of slydogs w/ ski savers and a shper bar and just wish I was somewhat unhappy? just for an excuse to try them!

i have c&a advantage x skis on my 07 attak. night and day better than the junk stockers. but i can't speak for the other brands. i know they are very impressive off trail and like others have said "they go where you point them"

i put bergstrom triple edge carbides on my "junk stockers" and i am very happy.good steering easy effort.90% aggresive trail riding.
'

i ride alot off trail, that is where the stock skis are junk

I echo Allen's advice about toe in. The manual says to toe the skis out....IGNORE this setting when using Slydogs. My Attak became as stable as I could ever want after seting the toe in 1/8".

snappy,

I was thinking of doing the same as you. Are you using ski savers? What length carbide? I am 230 lbs. without riding gear and ride aggressively as well. Thanks for the help.

Shane
shane i used the savers and no shims.probably around 220lbs dressed with travel gear.

Well since nobody commented on SLP powder pros', I'll throw in my 2 cents worth. In my opinion these are the best skis I have ever tried, they work great on trail and off trail as well. I must say I don't have them on the ATTAK, but on my 04 XCSP stretched to 136" with ripsaw track. These skis totally eliminated darting and after installing the 136" ripsaw they corrected the understeer. They perform awesome in the powder. I most likely will install a set on the Attak, as I'm very happy with them. Like I said just my 2 cents.

since you brought them up..I've run the powder pro's and they are decnet but I found they performed best on lighter weight front end sleds..

personally I think they would be great for powder and breaking trail but if the majority was groomed trail...I'd pass

sj that is interesting, have you tried them on your Attak? I have found these skis to be great on the trail and excellent off trail through the powder. They work very well for me on hard pack also but as I said in my original post they are installed on my 04 XCSP. They do not follow any other ski ruts, they make their own so they eliminated all darting and hold a great line through corners, and you can actually turn in the deep stuff with the skis. if you tried them on your Attak and they didn't do so well please let me know. I also thought about just trying the Snowtracker carbides on the Attak but I do ride off trail a fair amount and want a wider ski for floatation.

I have not tried on an attak....last sled was a srx..

if you like them that much I say run them..
I liked them fine in the looser stuff..but I like the simmons better on trail
