need attak handling advice!

Love the 13mm bar. It made the biggest difference in handling. At first it felt a little stiff in the bumps but then I took out 2 clicks of compression dampening in the front shocks and it went away. Cornering was flat. I would even like to try a 14 mm bar. Limiter strap is all the way out which also helps it turn. Transfer rod is halfway between std. and min. but I'm still playing with that. The handling on this thing is completely different then as delivered. Fastest trial speeds I've ever run. Now if it only had more POWER.

Carbide Length?

Snokat:

Regarding your post on the forum I have some questions.

1. Could you please take the measurement of the distance from the eye of the top of your shock down to the top of the first spring collar?

2. Where is your limiter strap set at?

3. You mention that you have Woody's dualies, what size carbides?

I have about 1400 miles on my Attack so far. Love the sled but it pushes way too much in the turns. I have loosened the front shocks up a bit, moved the setting on the rear shock to one notch from hardest setting (I weigh 180 lbs. - will move to hardest setting tonight though - still bottoms out occasionally) and installed 4" woody's dual cabides.

I have a set of 6" Woody dual carbides sitting in the package in the garage but am not sure if that is the way to go or not? This whole carbide deal is getting expensive to keep up this whole trial and error method. Dealer also mentioned to maybe go with single 8" carbides. I never rode the sled enough prior to the 4" woody dualies to feel darting but everyone seems to complain about it. On my previous sled (99 XC 700 SP) I always ran single 6" carbides and it absolutely railed. With all the weight there is in the front of these machines I cannot imagine that it should not plant as well.

doolys are great to prevent darting, but are terrible at keeping the front end planted. i would do like your dealer suggested and go with single 8" carbides and if it darts, shim the bumpers. always works for me!

You need more preload on the front shocks to eliminate the push. Try it, it works. You will get more feedback from the skis though.
