hey guys, i never noticed this problem last year since we didn't have much snow. this year is a different story, LOTS of snow. anyways, i've noticed in the deep stuff my attak seems like it just wants to dig a trench but it keeps the skis up. and the motor seems to be working much harder. my viper w/a 136 kit doesn't have this problem at all, it floats on top of the deep stuff. anyone know what my problem is?

Attak sucks in real deep powder. it,s the approach angle.....not good in real deep snow;it,s too steep. this has been talked about a lot. the stock weights also don,t back shift worth chit in deep snow. Your lucky to hit 9k rpm,s.

it will trench about 2" less. I am lucky to live in a snow belt area. owned 2 attaks. they flat out plain suck in real deep powder unless you toss a serious track like a 144 X 2 under them & even then a X-fire will do circles around em till you get out on the lake.

I put a 1.5" freeride trak on my attak with no other adjustments. Now I have no problem in the powder. I keep up fine with my buddies on there mountain machines in deep powder no problems now. Attaks don't suck in the powder just needs a paddle track as apposed to the ripsaw finger track.

Rip Saw tracks do just that. They rip and saw through the snow. My short track sucks with any deep snow. The track is aggressive for a harder packed trail, but they all suck in the deep stuff. The profile of the track doesn't have the paddles, and more of a 'spiky' design. Most of the guys who have switched to the Cobra, Free Ride, or other styles have had much better luck in the deep stuff.

I find with my 03 Rx1 that it will climb up on top with less throttle . whith full throttle it just digs a hole . At less than 3/4 throttle i was able to go faster than 2 f7s and a 900 cat. They tryed to do that but the 2 strokes just stall out the engine where the 4 stoke can run at a lower rpm and still pull very well . In this stuff the RX1 only used half the gass that the f7s did . gotta love that low end tourqe . Snow was about 4ft. deep with some slush in it . Cat guys were realy impressed .

My Attak is a total and complete waste of time once you get into anything over 6 inches deep. I installed Mountain ski's made numerous adjustments to the skid including pulling up the limiter strap. I still get schooled by anything on the snow old/new, short track/long...except another Attak. Totally embarrassing. :o|

I have to agree. I put a 1.5 intense track and slydog powderhounds on mine and it still is a backhoe. I'm not very heavy either. I fixed my problems with a m6 with a 153. Now thats floatn'

Ride with a 07 crossfire 700 with a 1.25 ripsaw(same track) & see the difference on deep snow capability. I can barely go where the crossfire can go with ease & that,s even poaching his tracks.

Man, this is depressing.... I am in the middle of my track upgrade/tunnel extension, 144x2 challenger track with a hartman extension, hoping to get some powder performance out of it, but from the sounds of it I bought the wrong sled!
Now I don't know whether I should finish the project or put itall back together and trade it in. I doubt the dealer will be interested in a modified trade in....

:o| :exc:

If you're putting a 2" track on it, that will make all the difference. Most of the sleds with the Rip Saw on it just won't go inthe deep stuff. Look at the Apex Mountain, it's an animal on the deep stuff.
There is definately a difference to be had with the correct setup!
I watched by buddy's "Gade 1000 mow through some unbelievable drifts the other night, and he only has an 1 3/4 track. I think with the 2" setup, you'll be happy.

If this were true I'd get one in a heartbeat. But I find it difficult to imagine anything making my Attak "float". I'd have to see it to believe it.
