I have a 2007 attakgt with about 14k on it. Steering has about an inch of slop at the bars. Heim joints I can see look tight . I had most of the suspension bushings replaced a couple years ago. Any thoughts?

Back when my Attak had about 500 miles on it, I measured 1/2 inch of play at the end of the handles. If that was the norm, then you have about a 1/2 inch unaccounted for.

It sounds like you're due for a good ol' fashioned front end re-build. There are several areas that can contribute to this issue. A little bit here...a little bit there...adds up to the total slop. The suspension bushings you had replaced a few years ago, are probably worn out again.I have a 2007 attakgt with about 14k on it. Steering has about an inch of slop at the bars. My 2008 Vector LTX (same chassis as your Attak) developed excessive sloppy steering at about 10,000 miles. I rebuilt the entire front end with all new bushings, collars and ball joints. Surprisingly, the ball joints out at the skis didn't feel that bad. It was the joints above the exhaust header that were the worst, by far! I even replaced the plastic bushings on the steering post and each end of the steering shaft that runs forward, behind the engine oil reservoir. It took a little time, but It steers like new again! Do a thorough ski alignment when complete.
Below are some links with pics from a few sleds I've re-built:

I put grease nipples on the plastic bushing that are accessible and drilled a hole down into the one behind the airbox and use a needle greaser. these bushing are holding up very good. I squirt some penetrating lube on all the other steering joints when ever possible. 28,000 km and still good.
