Had Tek-Vests before, but 1Crazysledder picked up a B-Wear safety Jacket/tek-vest saturday at hay Days, and showed it to me at my trailer. I tried it on, and it fits perfect! My last one always had a high spot where you helmet would always hit and rub....not this one. He told me the price, and thought I would check them out since I sold my last one to PowD3rPilot.
Tried another on at the booth, and bought one on the spot. Very comfortable, and is 1 out of 2 manufacturer's to be ISR safety approved. I will be running ice this winter, and need one for the rules.
Vince (1Crazysledder) and I got a great deal on these. These are brand new from B-Wear.

I bought one of those as well at hay days. My brother got one of the b-wear last year and loves it. So I also had to get one this year.

One feature I liked was while wearing this under your coats, the back won't rise up and hit the back of your helmet. ( Like Terry just mentioned )
The back has been trimmed down to prevent this.
Rob was asked to redesign these. They took all the complaints from previous models, and these are the result.
Not shown in Nos-Pros pictures, but also included are the shoulder pads. Very low profile so putting a coat won't be an issue. These are said to be very warm, so a liner may be able to be removed. To a degree I would think. -40, my liner stays with my jacket.
Also, these zip up in the front middle. Then that flap you see folds over and kept in place with Velcro, so there won't be a possible damage to the inside of our coats.

Terry,
If you think they are as safe of safer than the Tek-Vest my family is wearing I'm sure we'll be buying 6-10 of them, I hope this helps with a potential group buy.

I do not want to sound like a preacher, but can you put a price tag on a life. I could have been killed last season when I wrecked my sled. Really got me thinking. I encourage everyone who doesn't have a vest like this to invest in one. I don't care what brand. Some protection is better than none.

About BWEAR Vests
Terry B. please call Rob Heeb at Factory Race Support again 1-208-724-6677. Your phone message was incomplete and the call volume is so high I couldnt tell which was yours. Sorry for the inconvience Rob
oh and ps to help the question of safety...only the BWEAR and TEKVEST Pro models reach a level of protection that would qualify for an ISR sanctioned event. All of the others do not qualify in one form or another. That does not mean that they are not good quality it simply means that they fall short of the standard. That is a general safety standard so that events can be santioned for their insurance. For the consumer it simply means a better overall protective device. Kind of similar to dot approvals on helmets.

All the Tekvest models are ISR approved, as long as the shoulder pads are attatched.
I wore a MX style protector for a while but kinda got tired of it, the rigid plastic wasn't comfortable on longer rides and I'd heard that those are only for protecting against flying dirt/rocks on a MX track and not really for impact.
I wear a Tekvest Freestyle now and am very happy with it. Tekvests cost a lot but like a previous poster said you can't really put a price on injuries/death. Plus I've heard that UHMW armor stops a .45 bullet, gotta be tough stuff. It's also very comfortable and doesn't shift around or ride up like the rigid MX ones did.
I bet upper body protection will get more mainsteam in the years to come as people realize it's not just for sno-x racers and that it doesn't interfere with riding.

For a minute there I thought there might be something wrong with Tek-Vest.
Actually, I am a little disapointed that there aren't more of them out there. For anyone who is sitting on the fence, or doubting the effectiveness of these devices should ask Ultimatewarrior, and Bubba Go Fast, how effective they are at saving your life, or minimizing injuries. And I'm not talking about racing in ISR sanctioned events either.

wore my tek-vest for the 1st time . Didn't even know was there. Last year went exploring in the woods at Old Forge ( not by choice ) but luckily escaped any major injury. Then on Jan 1st this year- my wife was riding one of our hourses and was thrown and broke a couple ribs. Figured it was an omen- bought one and love it. Like others say- took out the zip-out liner of the jacket and don't even feel it. Actually its warmer than with out it. Does ride up or impede movement at all. Who cares about cost- only have one life.

For those who haven't read about my experience, here goes. I was thrown from my sled Jan. 9 while riding East of Gwinn, Mi. Struck the ground on the right side of my head and my right shoulder. We were travelling at 30-40 mph. Result of the accident was a broken collarbone, completely in two, and bruises to the outside of my knees, thighs, hips, and my entire rear end. I had ZERO bruising to my torso. No pain, no marks, NOTHING!! I don't care what brand you wear, WEAR ONE!! Anyone who knows me and has ridden with me knows my experience level and ability. This more or less low speed accident could happen to anyone, any time!! I have 7 kids at home, and a loving wife. SHE is the one who purchased this for me and I WON'T ride without it.
