coming home tonight and it is really cvold out tonight, i was getting a backfire constanrly at wot. air fuel was at 12 and running 7 pounds boost. any thoughts what to check. was running great all day.

Speed is on to something... Cold air making more HP and overpowering your clutching and bouncing off the rev limiter? Hmmm.

well i was watching that and it was under 11000 rpm. i also had the valve open to release some boost so was only showing 7 pounds on the ic side of it.

Doesn't matter what boost you are running, real cold air makes more HP, conditions could have been grainy from to cold, sounds like Rev limiter, We have seen that a time or two. Plus 11000 on tach could be 11,2 or 11,3 in real time

i will see when it warms up. but there is a big difference with that valve open bleeding off boost. i really dont think it was jitting the limiter. but was making good power today. i am having a heck of a time keeping the thing reving where its suppose to be.

Any Codes flashing?
Check for coil failure or bakelite crack in coil where it could be arcing.

it has been backfiring off and on since i owned it. just sort of intermittent and doing it more so when you first start out the ride. what plugs are recomended with the mpi just stock?

look in the attak/apex forum and in one of the stickies there will be a link to the codes and what they represent.

yes i do know about them, just was wondering why it was only there with key on. reading in the turbo forums i guess its normal with a super. although i never noticed it before. I did have a hard time startin it in the morning though. turned over alot and messed with the throttle when turning it over. matbe that did it. i really thought it wouldnt start, was turning over to slow. hooked a car battery to it and after some coaxing it fired.Must be alot more drag turning that super when its cold
