I need help please!!!My 05 RX1 has MPI SC 24/24 drive making 8-10psi
boost-500-1500 ft elevation-high 20s ambient-With 135 mains 17.5 pilots
13mm floats stock screw settings 3rd clip silver springs

With this tune

sled ran ok but would fall on its face at WOT,but would seem fine at 90%
would rev >10000rpm just not at WOT

Next-installed innovate O2 sensor just before muffler-130 mains 15 pilots
15mm floats 1.5 turns on screws 4th clip stock springs sync'd carbs

With this tune

sled seems to run well(I'm running alone in 12" of powder in S Jersey)02
sensor shows 4s (idle and on up)mid 3s at WOT(no more falling on face)
--one weird thing it now wants to idle at 2500-3000(02 shows 4.3)but will
eventually settle down to 1100(02 shows 6.8-7.0)

HELP!! I've been in touch with MPI gave them all the 1st tune info-second tune was their suggestion-Im running 110 TORCO/stock clutch & gearing
-at this point I'm pretty much lost!!!

Any help/suggestions/something I'm missing-would be GREATLY APPRECIATED

sc jetting

Here is what im jetted for at 8 to 10000 ft. 130 mains 17.5 pilots 2 turns on fuel screws needles in middle 14.5mm float height 10psi boost. I dont have an A/F gauge but it runs exellent and plugs look great at every throttle position

Welcome to the boost club :-) :4STroke: ;)!

You are running stock gearing and clutching! You have to do something with the clutching. No way you can run 10 psi of boost without hitting the rev limiter. You have to add more weight to the primary or going to the softest primary spring there is with the stock weights. My take is that you are hitting the rev limiter at WOT with the 1st tuneup.

Also you have leaned it down, this did help ..HM.. maybe you make less power when leaned down thus you are not hitting the rev limiter anymore. For your altitude and temps you should be close to stock in jetting.

What are those O2 readings, I don't understand them, have you dropped the first digit? 4s is like 14s? That is lean. You should stay close to 12:1 AFR when on full boost WOT. High idle that does settle down after a while indicates a lean pilot circuitry. HP peak is from 10000 to 10300 depending on kit, adjust your clutching accordingly. Hope this helps ;)!

Thanks guys- will the rev-limiter remain active until throttle position changes? This thing would stay flat until you released throttle(reguardless of RPM)-clutch and gear changes are next-all digits seem to function on O2
gauge-they all work during warm up count down-so there should be a 1 in
front of my 3s and 4s- I made the tune changes based on the O2 readings-but I'm beginning to wonder-if anything I should be on
the lean side

Thanks again for the help

those reading imply very rich is it calibrated properly.you should be in the 12-13 at idle 11 at wot.

I was wondering the same thing Andy. When you left ECP on Thursday, I was wondering if the O2 sensor could be faulty. We also should have checked compression and leakdown when you were here. I consider 10% leakdown in need of freshening. Call me whne you get a chance. We will figure this one out!

Got a call into MPI trying to get Mac-I think we're missing something. No way we should be that rich with that tune-O2 free air calibration done at install 20.8-20.9-gauge should be good

Freddie-I hope no comp/leakdown problems on 1500mi sled only dyno time and 20 gals worth of riding since install??

Update-O2 sensor is innovate lc-1/xd-1. These can be used with a
variety of fuels-They are programmed at innovate for the most common application(gasoline). Mine was somehow(they weren't sure how)set up for
"special" something or other causing false readings.

To change this you need a laptop and maybe a USB PDA serial adapter. I found Dynex model DX-UBDB9 at Best Buy <$40. I called Innovate support and spent about 20 minutes(I'm computer challenged)being walked through downloading Dynex and Innovate discs and hooking up to
the sled. Once the setting was changed to gasoline-

Idle 14s-15s settles down to 18s-19s(Good call rxrider)
Running on stand 11s-12s

Will be switching pilots back to 17.5 & change screws
Tonight Ulmer clutching & gear change
Weekend Old Forge maybe Otis Sunday

Thanks again for the help-Gettin Closer!!

millstreet - Glad you got the AFR right. Have a great time running Allens clutch kit. I have his clutch kit in my sled. I had to customize it cause I run more power than it was designed for. It works great. Happy sledding.
