So I had a factory belt on my nytro and I was going 60ish threw a field and a big chunk came off (squealed a little bit, not bad). So I went out and bought a new belt and put that one on and now it squeals a bit at idol. when I apply throttle it stops... I feel that it is going to destroy my belt eventually.. ANY HELP WOULD BE GREAT! has anybody else had this problem???? how can i fix it???? Thanks Ryan

it wont destroy your belt first of all. mine does it here and there. its mostly the new belt sitting to high in the secondary and rubbing a little on the primary sheves at idle. you can either live with it or adjust you secondary clutch following the manual and either adding or removing the washers on the backside if I remember correctly.

reset your belt deflection also according to the manual. Sounds like the belt is too tight and riding too high in the secondary. Good luck!

New belt will stretch. I'd drive it for a trip first, just try not to let it sit and idle while you're stopped for long. My sled has a new belt on it now and once it heats up and I stop and lift the back end, the track will spin more than I'd like. I am going to drive it for tomorrow's trip and I think it'll stretch and be fine.

What Ragin said...add or remove shims from the short little screws on the secondary. The screws gives the option of opening or closing the secondary sheaves to set proper belt height at idle. Too tight, the belt will squeal.

Don't remove shims from the secondary shaft. You need to add or remove the washers on the 3 screws on the backside of the secondary just opposite of the helix. There will be 3 screws with washers or no washers. I forget how it works , if you add washers it opens or it gets narrower. One or the other. The shims on the shaft set your clutch offset, watch when you take the secondary off they may stick to the clutch and fall off after. These shims are there to get the primary and secondary into proper alignment when under load.

Taking shims or washers off of the (3) 10mm bolts on the back side of your secondary will open the sheeves and drop the belt down which is what you want to do but, take only one shim from each at one time and try it. A new belt (I assume and 8HDN) should ride about 2mm (0.050") above the outer diameter of you secondary when all is set up right. As the belt wears, you should add shims to the (3) 10mm bolts on the back side of the secondary to adjust the belt back up to the 2mm setting.
As stated before, take it out for a ride first and get a few hours on the belt. It might "seat" itself and you wont have to make the adjustment.

You might want to have a good look for a piece of belt cord in there.

remove the three washers from the back and squeel will go away , belt is too tight , and it will not hurt anything this is made like this for adjustment and if you have lots of miles change the three bolts for yamaha new ones

Thanks everybody for the help! I rode it again today and it was squealing pretty bad at idol and when I start moving. I will try taking off the three washers in the back of the secondary tomorrow morning!! Really hope that I didn't break anything from the last belt... Thanks again!! Ryan
