i installed everything today, except the springs, got sent the wrong ones, do the stock springs effect the way it idles,? i put 165 mains, set the screws at 2 turns and tried 2 1/2 then put back to 2 .changed the plugs to the new ones.i cant figure it out, would the springs not being in do that. it kinda pops and sound horrible. eccelerates alright but just idles like crap.

freddie, just wondering if this makes sense, i cant figure out why it ran good before.it did run fine. heres my stupid question, im trying to figure how to word it, hope you can make sense of it. ok when a person changes the fuel screw from the stockposition,is this what is doing it.all the stock settings are different on the screws. if the carbs are out of sync from factory are they getting it tunes ny the fuel screws? i found the problem by looking in the carbs as it was running. the 2 right cylinders, or carbs i could see the fuel attamizing?? in the carbs on the butterflies, on the left side i couldnt see no fuel, i pulled the carbs and blew them out 3 times, its getting alot easier to remove carbs for me now anyway.i new they were clean. i set up the 2 just by eye and it started running the way it should. now i have to get it done with a monometer if i can find someone with one around here. any way yaes you can say, i told you so lol

A popular misconception to some folks is that the manifold pressures are higher at rev than at idle. I is exactly the opposite however! Being that the air filters much more air makes the manifold pressures change. Also simply removing the carbs from the rubber manifolds and re-installing them creates a possible better (or worse) seal at the manifolds thereby changing the synchronization sometime s great deal. Also changing main jets and fuel screws messes the sych up a bit... but just slightly.
