ball joint mod

i was thinking about doing the ball joint mod.

i just bought the sled and what it to be the best it can be, it is an 08rtx with a 144 tip up oft on it.

how do i know whether or not this mod has already been done or not?
and can i just grind 2.5mm off or is it essential to have it machined?
should i drive it first then do it?

isnt there anyone that has done this mod and can give some opinions.

i am a very aggressive rider and was wondering if it needs to be done.

I just had mine done, I took them to a machine shop and had them do it...pretty simple. I'm not sure if it will make a huge difference but most guys that have donet it say it does...it cost me $20 so i thought what the heck.

did you just pull them off, machine them, put them back on... or is there other adjustments needed such as tie rods.

I just put them in my lathe, turned them down, and re-installed. No other adjustments.

I just pulled them off, had them done and reinstalled..no other changes. I don't know the original length..but I new the guy who owned the sled before me and e never touched them..where did you buy your sled from..maybe you can ask the previous owner?...or measure yours and let me know how long they are and I'll measure mine and compare.

A stock upper ball joint measures approx. 60mm from shoulder to the very outside of the cast eye.
So if you pull off your's and they measure like 57mm.
The mod has already been done.
