Barometer???

Its got a dummy light, which is all you need for engine temp when riding. Seriously... if its not overheating, who cares?

The benefit of an engine temp. gauge, as I see it, is to make sure the engine is up to operating temp. before you start to "get on it." It's my understanding that significate engine damage can occure from loading up a cold engine.

They have a dummy light for that too! You are to wait until the sled warms up and the light goes off before riding. Its in the owners manual.

Sled Dog...........You are correct. Is the engine up to normal operating temp. when the low temp. light goes out?

Yamaha says so but waiting another minute or so after it goes out certainly wont hurt anything as the light does go out fairly quick ;)!

I might very well have this wrong. but wasn't the warm-up light removed on the Apex????

It's still got the low temp light. Page 5-10 of my owner's manual (mountain and GT manual)

I care. I'd rather try to bring temp down before its overheated. Also, an outside temp would have been far better than a clock. :o|

The engine is definitely not at full operating temp until several minutes after the cold engine light goes off.
The light turns off when the coolant temp hits about 68F and while the light is on the ECU also lowers the rev limiter. This has been the same since '03.
