Hey guys,

I was wondering if this seems to be a problem with the Rx-1. I just bought a 04 Rx-1 w/ 180 miles on it. I charged the battery with my battery charger at 2amp setting about 2-3 weeks ago. I went to start it today and it turned over really hard, almost dead. Do these things turn over hard when not used for a while? Or is the battery a piece of crap?

You did not say what type of charger you have. With a battery tender type, when you get to full charge it shuts off and restarts again if it needs it.

If you just used a regular charger, then what you did was COOK the battery and ruined it. That could happen in as little as 4-6 hours or more.
OR the previous owner let it sit uncharged which sulfated the plates. If that is the case the battery COULD take a charge but not a full one and it wont keep it for very long.

Hey LB I have used a battery tender type always. My battery on my 97 Vmax is the original battery and it still works perfectly. :-o But everybody has a different situation. My sleds may sit for 4 months at a wack up at the cabin with nobody there

My father-in law, well he is a sad case. #$%&* He lets em sit all summer with nothing and he is buying batteries every year. ;):D

VMaxkid, that new charger that the yammie dealers have is capable of desulfating a bad battery

In '03 I was out of the country for 6 months - during which the machine just sat in my garage with dust collecting on it. Got back, turned the key, cranked it over for what felt like an hour, and it never for a moment felt at all weak. My feelings with this battery is that it's got enough juice to start up a bulldozer.

Yeah LB that battery is way bigger than it needs to be, and you are right you can get away without having a charger. Some of my feeling on this are due to 20 years of maintaining motorcycles. For many people a charger will save buying a battery every 1-3 years. Was the 6 months during some non winter weather? Where did you go? I was in Singapore for 6 weeks over the summer. Great place, I loved it and would go back in a second.

I had to build a house in the only part of FL where the best looking woman looks like an UGLY dude. Definitely through the warm weather - you think I could leave my baby for 6 months in the winter? Dreaming of winter was the only thing keeping me going when standing up on top of concrete pillars under the 110 deg sun.

LMAO, I should not have asked if it was winter. I just figured that your battery would withstand a 6 month no start in the summer better.

Ouch on the fugly FL women. I kid you not, 60% + of the women in Singapore are beautiful, that is if you like Asian women. They have a thriving red light district, and I was working about 2 blocks from it. The have all these sidewalk cafes on the main street that borders it. You could not sit there and have a beer or lunch or dinner without a dozen or so coming over to your table.

Hey I like Asian women just fine... just as long as they're HOT and don't talk too much ;)

Guai-lo (sp?) stand out like a red-assed monkey. I'm sure that's why they came up to you... that and because they all know that Asian men have small weiners.

The battery in my 04 Warrior started to suffer last April. It will no longer hold a charge either. It's at the dealer now - with the anticipation that a new warranty battery is on its way. I hope.

That must be true because they all said I was freakin gigantic, thank you enzyte

Well my battery was toast. The good news is that I received a new one, no charge. Sounds like it may have been a dealer suck up rather than Yamaha though.

Ahhh, not have to go to massage parlor to get happy ending LOL.
It had to be the dealer wanting to put smile on your face!!!!!!!!!!!
