Hey All,

New to the ATV w/a battery scene so I am wondering who takes theri battery out (if they don't use their ATV over the winter like myself since I own a snowmobile) and puts a battery tender on it?

I seen one from Harbor Frieght tools for only $7.99 on sale and the Battery tender brands are like $40... so wondering if anyone uses the Harbor Frieght one?

Thanks

I use mine all winter even though I plow with it, I just lift the seat up and hook up the terms. I have been using mine for 3 yrs so far and still got the original battery. I bought mine at advance auto parts made by Schumaker $13-15 it's worth every penny. It still cranks like a new battery. :jump:

I bought me a Battery Tender Jr. - I heard the ones from Harbor freight are a cheesy.. I figure for $30 I can get a quality tender that will make that $100 battery last:)

I need to do this, I go thru a new battery every 2 years...

Yea well from what I have been reading is just hook it up and forget about it.. it will always keep the battery "fresh". I probably won't use it as much in the summer as I will be riding my quad each and every weekend...

Sounds like you might want to buy one! $28 is alot better than $100! and you can even use one unit across a few batteries, you just swap it every few days...

I got mine on ebay new in package for $28.50 shipped. Normally they are $40

Battery Tender Jr's are the best. Anybody that is not an everyday or every other day rider should have one.

I own 2 battery tender jr's and 1 battery tender. I have 4 Yamahas and 1 Can-Am. I still have the original batteries in my 98 Yamaha V-MAX 600 XTC Deluxe and 99 Yamaha Venture 500XL snowmobiles. Over the last 10 years I have only had to replace the battery in my 1986 Yamaha FJ1200 motorcycle.

Battery tenders WORK!

Battery Tender

Best $40 I ever spent. I get lots of use from mine, 3 street bikes, pit bike, and two quads.

Optimate 3 gets my vote. It's a great charger and can recover batteries you thought were junk. It has a special way of charging. It has paid for it self in the batteries it has saved for me.

Wallmart has them. I use mine when I plow snow at night. My last battery lasted 5 years and was still working when I traded ole red in.

ATV sport magazine June 07 had a test of the top battery tenders.
The walmart 1.5 amp tender took second place, not bad for under $18. I bought mine for $17.44 after everyones advice to get one on this forum. Thank You to all ;)!
