I had my build thread on another forum and figured I browse this forum more and may be helpful for me and others on here. Much of this was done last year, but this is always a project.
I am usually learning as I go and am kinda cheap...
Oh and NO we do not have mountains in Maine, but I really liked Legos as a kid and this kinda the same.
So this is my 2011 Nytro XTX.
Relocated my bars. Drill three holes chop up your plastic and run it.
Removed the protectors to make room for the 2" track.

Last years tunnel
Grabbed alum from home depot carbide tipped saw blade for the skill saw. Cut it and riveted it down.

Cat Float skid weighing under 40lbs! Heavy yammy skid next to it.
Getting rid of that heavy clunky yamaha brake. Mainly just cut your yammy bolt down and bolt it up to a cat brake.
Stock battery
New Lightweight battery
Removed the beake fins
bye bye sway bar
Skinz a-arms and polaris bar to hold the seat up and look cool
So yea, that was how I lost at least 75lbs. Still seemed bulky and knew the front was heavy. My skid also seemed to ratchet or dig.
I decided I needed to move some liquid back. It may not change weight on the scale, but it would really help balancing this pig out. Drop the radiator for rear cooling and drop the trail tank for the rev seat.

So I needed to move weight back. If I moved it back, then I would have added weight back there. I also needed to add tunnel coolers. Reached out to Rick with OFT and he gave me some amazing prices I should have taken him up on, but me being me I deiced to try it myself. I figured it would be fun to bend up my own tunnel. Then I started reading about carbon fiber...

That is a vacuum infusion setup you see and not a vacuum bagging setup. Spiral tube around and media in the middle to flow. It is the way to go and is the stongest and lightest. With that being said my mold did not have nearly big enough flanges and had to to do it by hand. Which sucks for multiple reasons, but in middle of a disaster I had no choice. Came out and I will see if it holds up. It is very very light. If it does hold up, I can get my mold working better and it will be stonger and even lighter! Good test and I am pretty proud of what I have learned.

I'm familiar with the costs of the resin and cloth, but you do mind sharing how much you have into your whole setup? Very cool BTW, I can't wait to have the time to start doing more with CF.

Beeze:
That tunnel is beautiful, and vacuum infusion??? I didn't even know what it was. I've seen vacuum bagging and autoclaving.....but thanks to TY members and Google...I learned something new today.
How many layers of CF did you go with?

The cost is kinda wierd to calculate, but maybe a 1k. I bought a tunnel with better boards and the m7 cooling, but but bought for something else and robbed those parts. I bought infusion items like the 150 pump, but did not end up really using it. I got my cloth from us composites and my resin, soric core, bag, flow media from fiberglast and my clear coat from napa. I had fiberglass and resin left over from a boat project to make the mold. The cloth was probably around 400, so if you mess up your done and the resin was like 70. Very costly and risky.
5.7 Twill and 3 more layers of 5.7 with a soric core in the middle. I also added a few extra pieces near the rear mounts and frount mounts.
