belt delaminating after a couple hundred miles

What should the wrap be, so I can make sure it is right. The clutch has free play and floats easily. Buttons replaced with Yamaha oem part

The secondary should be at 60* if you want the stock setting.

Below is a link to all the basic stock data you may need. Just click on the Tech Info tab, then pic the year and scroll down. Also there should be a Service manual avail, could be a sticky above. Good info to have.

Can't say for sure but it looks like I'm getting play it the sheave bushing. the weight bushings are able to move in a semi-circle. the tower bushings are binding. the driven need new bushings. I decided to replace the set. Ordered some low mile clutches from lane. I'm hoping this is the right choice.

Lane should do you well.
He has lots of parts & knows them.
I had to replace the primary in my Rage at just under 15,000 miles, was simply worn out.

Also you can speak with ULMER Racing once you get the mechanicals right.
He has done wonders with my clutching.

got the replacement clutches in all has worked well. put over 300 miles on this weekend and I'm still on the same belt

I believe delamination is caused mainly from excessive heat, often due to slippage. Did you preload the secondary when you put it together?
That would explain it riding low in the secondary occasionally. If you coast to a stop all the time the belt will usually work it's way back up the secondary, but often will stay down in and will basically be taking off in too high of a gear.

I noticed the problem after 300 miles when I first bought the sled. took the clutches apart and only marked the hole so I don't know if they where set up wrong or not. When I replaced the cluches I took them apart cleaned the and verified then where set in the 3 and 3 holes (60*). With the different clutches in I don't see any signs of wear and the belt sits just above the sheave. I didn't notice and discoloration in the sheave either. Which tells me I'm not melting the belt.

I use the engine to do most of my braking something I really like with the Attak.

ok, but after you put the spring in the holes, you have to "preload" the spring by turning the helix one one bolt hole tighter than it sits normally. Basically "wrapping" the spring tight before you put it down onto the bolts.
