What kind of mileage should I expect out of my belts? Right now I am getting about 200 miles then I lose the outer cord of the belt. Motor drops peak rpm about 200 or so and I do not get any black marks on the clutches. Secondary still backshifts like I want it to.

I got almost 1,900 out of my 1st belt and it came apart when I was drag racing second belt lasted only 400(warm outside) miles and now I have switched to the >Ultimax 3 belt< I'm hoping its a tougher belt. And I am going to somehow try to ventilate the belt area to get more air in there to keep it and clutch cooler...put some louvers or something in top of belt shroud and a tpi valve or something in my shock tower area maybe?

i got around 1700 before i changed it, and its in such good shape its my spare belt now, on both sleds.. I did some wide open lake runs for 1-2 miles at full throttle, no problems. i even burned it a couple times when i was stuck, but the belts on both sleds are still in great condition.

3,000 miles, 2 belts, most my riding in the steep and deep. If your doing less then that check all clutch and belts adjustments, paying close attention to your belt alinement and deflection, those are the #1 & 2 causes of heat and short belt life.

I'll 2nd what RX1Man said

over 4,200 miles and I changed belts at about 2,000 miles

I have not had a belt give me even 600 miles yet

I have had VERY poor belt life from my rx1 mountain the best life I Did get with a Belt was A Gates which lasted about 650 miles about 100 better than My best Yamaha belt so far
my friends all seem to have better luck than me
I just Bought a New Clutch Primary Hopfully I will have better luck with it

I too lost my first belt at 300 miles, but the second one has lasted over 500 more and still looks new. I heard there were a bad batch made at some point which were separating. That is what mine did also. The top ribbing peeled off over 50% of the belt and it started to vibrate badly. I am sure it was the belt and not me or the sled which was the problem, but at $60 per belt the dealer was not going to eat the cost. I hope like mine yours goes away.

60 dollars isnt bad. my friends Ski Doo RT 1000 has burned 3 belts in 700 miles and he pays 140 per belt!

First belt got changed at 2600kms just because. Am now at 5011kms on second belt. Oh yeah, sled has been turbocharged since 1500kms, boost between 9 and 16 lbs.

Thanks guys, got all summer to tinker then.

Check your C TO C distance & Off set Alignment, you should be getting a lot more miles out of it than that.

Also be sure you have it facing the right way........It has a directional Arrow.

Peter, only one problem. You let Tura use your used backup belt as a ski brake on her RMK and it got ripped up dropping over them rocks. Then you headed back home from McCall without switching spares with me like we agreed. :o| So unless you replaced it your spare is junk now :( .
