Is there any downside to switching to the 8dn?

No down side at all, cheaper, stronger, stickier, less belt dust and you might even pull a few more mph.Is there any downside to switching to the 8dn?

did you have belt failures with the 8jp?
Holy hell did I have problems with the 8JP belts....yes. I couldn't get more than a few hundred miles on a belt. The one time was 62 miles and she blew apart. I broke the belt in nicely for about 40 miles and started to get on it. Then boom....
The 8DN works much more better and is cheaper like everyone is saying. But now I'm running the 8DN equivalent Gates Carbon Fiber belt and man, what a difference.

Maybe the 8dn doesn't slip at stock power levels, but put a few motor mods on and you'll be posting on here, what was that gate's belt part # again.

You make a good point. I'm going to take the advice and get the gates belt.
With the gates ,all you need to do is shim the secondary?

Also I am not here to promote or sugar coat anything, I just like products that work, and that gate's carbon fiber belt work's.

I have run the 8JP on and off for the 2100 miles on my sled. I'd say maybe half of it, and its still the original and in good shape. But with the 8DN it pulls about 350 rpm less, so you know its gripping better. Needless to say, the 8DN will stay on my Viper unless the gates goes on.
