Riding last weekend belt came apart after several high speed runs. I was racing A poo 800, then let some friends ride the attak and the belt blew. I put A new belt on and it was slipping and squeeking. I dropped it off at the dealer and found that the secondary was warn at the base where the belt would ride at higher speeds. It was almost warn through and cracked in some places. I do have A pic of the damage but I do not know how to post it. Has any one seen this before or have any ideas? Dealer thought belt overheated riding in powder? That just dosent sound right.

Doesnt sound right to me either,if you can get your clutch to shift out to bottom of secondary in powder I need your clutching secrets ;)!

To post picture. When you are in the posting part,at the bottom it will say "add an attachment" click it.Screen will reset. Then go back down to the bottom and click on "browse" find your picture and open it and it will come up in the box next to "browse".Then submit it.You have to use jpeg or jpg pictures as this site doesnt accept all types of pictures.

If they dont warranty it, dont buy a new one from them. There are guys with brand new 06 take offs for around 175.00 . I've never seen a secondary wear like that, sounds very odd. ===SRXSRULE===

sounds tooo me like the belt ate the secodary... but than agian it should have ate the primary too..

The other thing you have to make sure of when adding an attachment is that the file size is less than 500K. So you may have to run the picture through your photo editor and change the size or save it as a low quality jpeg file.

I heard back from the dealer today and its not good. The service mgr. I deal with told me that yamaha told him thar the only way damage could occur was if I got stuck with secondary shifted out.I have never gotten stuck, towed a poo 800 for 1 mile at 30 mph. Not very happy about this at the moment.

I had an older Polaris that wore a groove on the primary from towing another sled for 20 or so miles. Maybe from the same thing.

You should be able to go to different dealer. If your secondary spring broke at high speed I could see this hapining or if secondary spring was installed wrong, maybe. But to be stuck with secondary open that far you have to lock up the track at 100 mph slide all the way to a stop without ever lifting off the brake then be stuck and burn the snot out of it and even then it would only be burned 2/3 of the way around the driven because if the secondary turned at all it should back shift. My therory anyhow.

The sec.. sheaves are poor quality.... I take mine apart pretty well every Friday before the weekend to clean and the first time I noticed all the pin holes from over seas castings,, Pin holes you can't get rid of but if you put the two together without spacers they hang up from all the lag,,Mass produced Terrible job. Go at it with emery boys. its preventing full shift no matter what kinda spring weight combo you can dream up...Tell your dealer to get stuffed and move on... It doesn't cost him anything to make you happy so he must be an asshole...Bill
