2021 currently with 375 miles
Noticed the belt squealing after decelerating almost to a stop and giving it light throttle again to continue on. Also does it from a stop once in a while. Does have some belt rubber on the primary and a fairly good groove worn in. The groove is more than I would expect for 375 miles. Machine is 100% stock running the Yamaha belt. I do have an XS I plan to install after my Thunder Products secondary adjuster shows up.
Another concern, which may or may not have anything to do with the squeal, is the machine seems really tight. What I mean is, it doesn't roll well and requires more throttle to get moving than I would expect and considerably more than my friend '17 with 2k miles. It's better than the day I bought it but would have expected it to loosen up by now. No brake lock needed when parking facing down on a hill. Track is tensioned correctly and nothing seems out of sorts.

I’ve noticed the same belt squeal on my 21 SRX also. Much more pronounced early on, but it still occurs even as I add miles. I now have approx 750 miles on the sled and under aggressive braking is when I hear it, usually when coming to sharp turns or stopping. The sled does start to loosen up and I’m finding I’m using the firm setting much more than I anticipated. On my 17 LTX LE, with the shocks on #3 the sled was too stiff for me. Im finding I like the front end on med and rear skid on firm now.

Your belt deflection is to tight, installed the TP belt belt adjuster, set your deflection and it will stop squealling. When your belt deflection is that tight it will also go in to reverse a lot harder also.

My 2021 does the same thing, but I narrowed it down to the secondary not closing after braking. when you grab a handful of brake, it stops the secondary from winding down and the belt is caught down in the sheaves, when taking off again, the primary has to close a long way to grab the belt, essentially at the wrong gear ratio. Since our motors have torque for days, it wont drag the motor down, just squeal the belt till she gets up to speed, I'm going to try winding the stock secondary spring tighter to geta more aggressive backshift, see if that works.

I do agree it feels like the secondary is not closing fast enough and was my first thought. I don't recall any quick, track lockup stops, which would magnify a backshift issue. It happens even on general trail riding stops. I just looked and the belt is even with the edge of the secondary, which according to the manual is in the middle of the spec. Should I adjust it different?

It is accepted practice on here to NOT go above the secondary

So am I good or should I lower it into the secondary? Would this make it worse?

Run the belt 1mm above the secondary and tighten the secondary spring remove all washers behind the secondary just c-clip, the Dalton b/o works well tooSo am I good or should I lower it into the secondary? Would this make it worse?

Just under the secondary sheaves is where you want to be. Dead even at the HIGHEST

the post is about BELT DEFLECTION. His belt is making noise because its to tight/riding to high above secondary sheaves. Has nothing to do with offset/washers behind secondary.[/QUOTE]

Yep, what he said!
Too tight of a belt makes for belt squeals and magnified clutch braking.

This is way to much information for a person adjusting belt deflection. How do you know his offset is off telling him to do all that carp could very well make it worse.Run the belt 1mm above the secondary and tighten the secondary spring remove all washers behind the secondary just c-clip, the Dalton b/o works well too

lol yes, I won't be getting that deep yet. I can do anything to this sled but am a novice when it comes to clutching. I'd prefer to do an engine rebuild before messing with the clutches. I have much to learn on that.

TP adjuster installed. Seems the secondary will not shift all the way back when revving it and letting it come down. Will if I bump it a couple times. I think I'm close with the deflection but may need to go a little more.
