Just removed my stock pipe on my MTN and noticed the Long small
metal shield about in the centre of the pipe is broken away from
the pipes and the new Bender exhaust has nothing for a shield is it necessary to put one back there or just leave it off???

Not sure, but just received my exhaust system from MBRP, and it has that shield on it.

Hi TrueBlue, on my bender race exhaust there are two sheetmetal strips about an inch wide, one at the top and one at the bottom of the strait section of the pipes leading back to the canister. Thats where your supposed to re install the old sheild using rivets. If it helps my pipes are from 03 when i had my er's, and they may have changed the design, overall thou i would say there not that necessary unless you run studs maybe, but that little sheild looks pretty weak
