Bender II blowing oil out the turbo still....any revelations

Smokin

The Bender kit uses a Garret turbo. Very sensitive to oil return angle. Rotate the turbo housing so that the oil return is vertical and the problem will go away. Bender mounts them facing reaward at over 15 degrees Oil pools over teh compression seals and walla SMOKE. Especially going downhill.

NO need to play with scavenge pump etc just turn the pots.

its Funny you guys talk about this !!!! I bought a 2005 RX-1 a month ago that only had 30 kms on it with a stage-2 Bender turbo, anyway I started it up tonight and it smokes alot just holding it at 3000rpm !!!!!!! it does not have a jet in the oil line . should I through 1 in and see if It clears it up ?? it has a 400 and 700 in the pitot tube ? I am at 600ft elevation !! thanks

Why doesn't it have a jet in the oil line? If it is a newer Bender kit it is already in there. Check the two metal lines where they run back along the gas tank, going back to the turbo. Both of these lines are in two sections. Where they come down the left front side of the tank you will see 2 short rubber hoses connecting them. The line that sends oil to the turbo will have a metal clamp on the short section of rubber hose. The jet is under that clamp.

Guys , I was wrong my Bender turbo sled did have a 90 main jet in the oil feed line just like Bigdog05 said , It smokes after I hold it for 2 minutes above idle at about 2000rpm . when I bring the revs up to about 3800rpm and then let off it lets out big shot of blue smoke , this cannot be normal :ORC . the engine I put back in has 1 500kms on it and is broken in well . I have yet to call Bender , is there anything else they have changed in thier kit in a year ?? :yam: ;)!

Ted , It has a small air breather on it (the one that came from Bender) The oil seems to be returning to the tank O.k. , I spoke to Mike from Bender this afternoon about it and he seemed to be certian that it has to be the seals in the turbo that are blowing oil past , he said they have had the seals go bad in many due to the oil punp not coming on (due to bad grounds from instalation) and the seal never seats . He said on several occasions they have reseated . later

It does have a lot to do with crankcase venting, I was playing around with mine on the jack stand idling, and I stuck my thumb over the vent hose for 3 seconds and my sled started to smoke like a train, the turbos cannot have any crankcase pressure present or oil will go by the seals.

also .090 sounds a little big, most only need a .030 jet for oiling but check with your turbo manufacturer.

ted..does that product work on a front mount turbo...
because i have a consumming prob.on mine

thanks in advance for your help.

I made my own evac system like Lightningpro's but with a front mount that sits next to the gastank there is no room to get the wastegate actuator under the evac so I made mine with a notch in it for the rod to go underneath, Ken.
