I was crusin down a trail at a rather high rate of speed the other day and I hit a rock hard on my left tire. I thought for sure I was going to have a dented rim but I didn't but the machine started stearing weird. when I stopped and looked at it you could tell that the tire I had hit on was toed out. I had to stear slightly to the right to keep it going straight. My friend and I, on the side of the trail, used the tool kit to loosen the tierod end lock nuts (on the side that I hit) and adjusted the tire back in, It took about 3 or 4 turns of the tierod to get it straight. We used my winch cable and led it around the tires, front to back, on both sides to check the alignment and get it as close as we could. I rode it for about 6 or 7 more hours that night and it steared fine and handled good.
My question is, What do you think I bent??? I must have bent something for it to come out of wack like that. I looked it all over and I can't see any bends in anything. should I just ride it like I stole it and forget about it or should I take it in and pay top $$$ to have the dealer find what is bent....

I bet you bent the "steering knuckle assy., right where the tie rod mounts to it. I did that to mine also, but I had to compensate more then you did in the tie rod. Also with my stock tires and rims on, I notice a small wobble on that side around 20 to 30 mph. Dont notice it with the big heavy mud tires on.
Thats been 4 years ago I did that to mine, still haven't fixed it and it hasn't given me any problems. I think after that happened I looked up the price of a new steering knuckle and it was like $199.45 for my 2002. I was looking at it for the 2005 and its cheaper because the bearing assy. is different then my 2002.
This link here will take you straight to the yamaha OEM parts list, just click on year then click on type of ATV then, then goto "FRONT WHEEL" And its in there.
