I do not understand exactly what bergstoms ski savers do to help with darting. I think that it would help if the carbides were not all ready recessed into the bottom of the ski. Maybe there is something that I am miissing here but the ski saver seems to be doing the same thing that the bottom of the stock ski is already doing. Maybe I am missing the purpose behind them. Scot was very helpful to me by sending me carbides and both the 1/4 inch and the 3/8 inch ski savers along with the shim kit in just two days since I'm leaving for Canada on monday and was in a bind to replace my pilot ski's that were total junk. If anyone has the answer I would appreciate it.

If you look at C&A skis, SlyDogs and others that claim not to dart as much the keel of the ski (on the very bottom) is wider then narrows towards the top.

See pics : http://www.slydogskis.com/gallery.htm

Essentially the ski saver makes the bottom of the keel wider which prevents darting by not following others grooves because the width of the ski saver is wider than most stock keels.

That's at least what Scott explained to me today. I just order some triple points and ski savers.

They Work!

I'd skip the ski saver and add the shims....Rode one set up that way and it worked great ;)!

RE: Shims Agreed.. ;)!

But I have had great results running both the shims AND the Ski-Savers.

I went to put my ski savers on with my bergstrom tripples and the back of the bar does not recess up in the ski.I took the ski savers off, I was afraid I would catch on stuff backing up.

Rode with Tork after he installed the ski savers one night. We rode about 240 miles the next day and he complained of excessive darting about half way through the ride. When we got back to his cabin, we inspected the bottom of the skis and found that one of the ski savers had split in two and was sticking out sideways.

I did the triple points and shims. 80% of my darting is gone. ;)!
