Best helmet set-up please

Help.. what helmet/shield/goggle set up works with the FX...I have a Nolan modular and wear glasses and the way the air hits you on this sled I cannot keep my shield and glasses clear. I ride with my shield up most of the time.. please post what working for you..

i use a dirt bike style helmet but winter versions with breath deflector with googles. best anti-fog setup i've ever run. better then heated shields most of the time too. just buy good googles with anti-fog coating on the inside. and if u do buy this setup remember that anti-fog coatings are very very soft, so soft if u wipe the inside of the googles with a tissue it can scatch it. generally ur not suppose to wipe the inside of the lens ever. u dont really need to because they dont really get dirty on the inside. but if ur gentle you can wipe it, just make sure no dirt particles are on the lens prior to cleaning.

http://www.scottusa.com/us_en/product/1 ... _thermamax just don't get the rose lens if u order. those googles are awesome. amp blue anti-fog lens is amazing in the day and get the anti-fog clear for night, or just get clear anti-fog. switching lenses is a pain, its way easier to just have two sets of googles one for day one for night. they make a light sensitive lens that changes colors all by itself, but not to fit that specific google.

my hole life up until last year i ran just clear and only one pair of googles, but i read about the light blue lens and man it really is nice in the day. so now i keep a night clear pair on me as well.

do you wear glasses under the goggles... also how do you keep your face from getting frost bite when it is really cold. thanks for the reply.

only time i found a heated lens was better is in rare conditions where the temp is right around 32 degrees and it mists rain a little bit but freezes on the lens. this happened last night. it was that kinda stuff like when u go out in the morning and got a 1/4 inch of freezing rain on the windshield of ur car. all of our sleds were covered in it, our sled windshields and one guy with a heated shield still had issues and couldnt see too good.

then u open ur mask or take off the googles and the freezing rain pelts u in the eyes. haha for a little bit there our pace was slowed not due to bad trails but just couldnt see good enough.

my glasses are small frame so they will fit under those specific googles, they also make larger frame googles.

however i wear contacts always when i ride.

my face is always very warm. i wear one of those 5 dollar balaclava's always the helmet has a small wind/breath deflector and those googles also have a deflector on them, although i dont even need it.

I was on the Hill yesterday and I know what you mean about the mist... shield fogged..glassed fogged... rode with the shield up most of the day..

nice wind mill in the back ground... seems like if the goggles don't fog.. the glasses won't either..have you ever ridden with the glasses ??

I have never ridden with glasses on no.

we got hit with a monsoon from midnight to around 2pm when we finally got back to the truck. totally soaked. i rang my gloves out and about a gallon of water came outta each.

my iPhone is still messed up it got so wet, my digital camera works again after it dried thank god, my clothes and suit weighed about 200 lbs it was so water logged.

it was one hell of a ride back lemme tell ya. tons of lightning too.

a few downsides of googles though... occasionally i miss how easy it was to flip up the shield and get some wind on ur face when u want to then how easy it is to flip back down when u need to fast. with googles its a little harder.

other issue is say i wanna turn around while im riding to see if my buddies are still behind me or for whatever i gotta turn my head more to be able to see because the frame of the googles takes up some of the width of what regular shields offer so sometimes it strains ur neck a little u gotta turn ur head so much more.

idk just something i notice. i really dont look back too often but when i do i def gotta turn my head about 20 degrees more just to see

pro grip 3400 goggles will fit over glasses and a good balaclava will prevnt frosbite.

If you use a Quik Strap on your goggles, it's very easy to pop them on and off. Been using them for the last 4 yrs. Definitely the hot setup!!

I some times ride with my glasses and other times with my contacts. Last season i used a BRP modular helmet and it was the best thing i ever put on my head. But it had the X team graphics on it so i wasn't wearing it this season riding the phazer.

I got the CKX Tranz modular this season, it is great!! has the benefit of the open face helmet with the larger mouth area, and better pref vision, has a breath block off with a nice big vent in the front and vents in the rear to exhaust your breath, has a nice orange built in visor. I have the blue version. I paid a little over 200 CND for it taxes and shipping included from Royal Distributing , my yamaha dealer couldn't get it a the time that i was looking for it.


very very slick helmet, electric shield is an option.. but i haven't had an issue with fogging yet

Smith Turbo goggles never fog, no matter how much breath you blow into them, 'cause they have a battery powered fan. Even when you're sweating and breathing hard while digging your sled out and wearing them, they don't fog. These and a balaclava with a face mask built in= no fog and warm all the time.

They also make over-glasses versions of these.
