best marginal snow kit ?

any suggestions on what marginal snow wheel kit to use on an 07 attak ?
i am looking at the "fix power sports" mid & front wheel kit systems at $100 a set. #attkmidwh & #frtattlwh
any comments or suggestions ?

I think the best solution, if you're willing to go "non-stock", is to run 135mm Skidoo idlers in the front 4 idler locations.

i also put in the pioneer adjusters to lower the wheels. i was not into machining anything so other manufactures wheels would fit.

With the monoshock for the front 4 (outer) idler locations the skidoo wheels will simply bolt on (longer bolt are recommended though).

I haven't heard of any cracked slide rails in the front 4 locations ever, so I doubt it will reduce the life of the rails (the rails do crack at the inner mid-rear idler locations so I'd shy away from running oversized wheels there).

another vote from me for FIX POWERSPORTS MID and FRONT wheel kits.....

they tell you EXACTLY where to place them too....which makes these kits IMO the best on the market...

on the MONO skid(121") my sliders would wear THRU in two spots only.....and this is exactly where FIX instructions said to place these...so I know they did their homework.....as I concur with their findings 100% on slider wear.

How many miles do those little wheels last?

I considered them with my RX-1 and Apex, but one guy I know (remotely) who went with them said the bearings didn't last much more than a couple 1000 miles.

The other question I have is do you notice an improvement in performance to run 4 extra wheels (keeping the track better in contact with the snow, etc. or something)?

Previously I've always run the 04 RX-1 idler wheels and I've been getting about 6000 miles out of the wheels and hyfax. This time I'm running 4 Skidoo idler wheels and 2 04 RX-1 wheels. At the current rate, I expect the hyfax to last literally forever. Even riding on a road covered in sandy ice the hyfax doesn't wear down or overheat. I can't imagine anything better than that from a cost/durability point of view (but I can't comment on how much of a performance improvement there might be with a different solution).

my sliders WORE THRU last spring at the BEND,with my open window predator...and the previous season near wore thru at the MID section....now I have MID and front wheel kits...they cannot wear on those spots anymore....

the wheels are the only kit small enough to locate them wherever you want....no other kit has them small enough to install them at the midway section were the sliders wearout on the mono....FIX has done there homework here IMO.....there installation said to install them exactly were mine wore thru.....also,most all other kits cannot be mounted BETWEEN RAILS...which makes a huge difference.

second season now and they look and roll perfectly.....so far these are the best ive seen,since they can be put exactly where needed..and last!

I bought the universal wheel kit from Royal distributing. It comes with 2 - 2.75" wheels and mounting hardware for $50 cdn. The wheel quality looks pretty good and the bearing is c-clipped in. Good feature if you ever want to change them, that is if you don't loose them first!
Now all I need to do is figure out where to put them. I posted a thread a week ago asking for advice or pics on similar installations but no one has responded, I guess not many owners have installed them in the middle of the skid.
