I guess I should of ask where you are from? There are the guys like LazyBastard that do nothing but trail ride I guess. We out here in the mountains like going "snow"mobiling. Deep snow.......isn't that what snowmobiling is. One thing I have found in the last 9 months is that LazyBastard disagrees with almost everyone. Hum..........Anyways......depending on what kind of riding you do, the AC skid is a great alternative or the transfer kit if you are short on cash. If you don't do either of those....I'm sure LB can use someone to ride the groomed trails with!

All trail riding, usually with heavy moguls by the end of the weekend. I haven't had the pleasure to moutain ride, would love to some day.
Has anybody heard news on the Bender monoshock kit?? Are they any good... Have they fixed their supply problem. I have an 05 RX1 with the mono and it rode great after I put the heavy spring on it. I also have an 03 that I would like to upgrade.
As far as cheep conversions go, which OEM fits well and performs the best DOO, CAT, or POLARIS.

Be very, very careful. Words like that will get you banned. You just havent been around long enough to appreciate LB. I thought he was an a$$hole when I first started on this site. But he grows on you, and believe it or not, he's right most of the time. I, like many others on this site appreciate his input.

I can get banned for saying he disagrees with almost everybody??? In my experience here he does. I'm not bashing anybody. I'm just telling it how it is. I'll be the first to admit I love this site and never want to start anything, but I have found that he disagrees with most peoples opinions. That's MY opinion! Take it for what it's worth, but don't threaten me about being banned for expressing an opinion!

Agreeded, but it will screw up the handling if you are real agressive,i had my cat skid set up with fox clickers and extra heavy springs,it rode 100% better, but again the skid was not as durable as the proaction that came out of my 03 rx1,but man you could now jump the bitch lol and pound thru the moguls until i bent the front a arm and took out the tsl links broke one in half, did i mention i am a little rough on stuff lol if you drive sane and dont exspect it to rail like an srx than the cat or poo skid is a good option.jimmie d said:You can get a used good Cat skid for half the cost of the Ohlins and a much better ride.

Where did you get that from?AaronBND said:There are the guys like LazyBastard that do nothing but trail ride I guess.
BTW: This is NOT the mountain forum. You can find the MOUNTAIN forum here: http://www.ty4stroke.com/viewforum.php?f=13 - people asking about suspension upgrades for a SHORTY do NOT want MPI transfer straps.
Indy: Thanks.

If you get the right shock in the proaction skid it is a good skid . I used a viper er shock and it wors as good as my buddys mono but holds up a lot better .

like i said i put a ohlin,s in the stk skid it made a world of differnt,s and iwas a good deal at 300.00 cdn off of the ee section. thats what worked for me. simple esay to install no holes to drill. nothing to line up. just bolt in and ride.

Man you guys need some damn snow LOL
I put a MXZ 800 skid in my sled and what a difference. It hooks up 100% better rides better. I am a big guy so I need the heavier springs and shock revalve but I think I paid 300 for the skid about 50 to put it in heavy springs and revalved rebuilt shocks another 100 or so say 500 for the whole upgrade. I tried to buy a bender but couldnt get one last year. I think the guy DaveRX lived just up the road from me had done the same upgrade and he let me come over and try his sled before I got started. I drilled 2 holes int he bulkhead renforced the spot int he front and made 2 mounting plates for the rear to mount to. I did the track at the same time and did it all in about 6 hours including fabbing out the brackets. I know the Cat skid is even easier.

I had to install the heavier springs on my Pro-X skid too when I installed it. That kind of made me realize just how heavy even the rear end of the RX-1 is. Yikes.

If you can find a T-cat skid it will probably be sprung and damped already for the weight of the RX1. I put in a 2000 136" mountain T-cat skid and didn't have to change anything. No springs, No revalving. 17lbs lighter. Basically a totally different riding and handling sled for $400. Probably the best thing I did. No regrets....
