Hi guys,
I'm a 70/30 trail/offtrail rider and i want more flotation for offtrail. But i can't losse too much trail quality. I'm currently running on stock skis with semi agressive snowtracker.
i've searched on a lot of forum and some name get back often.
1. Stock mtx skis(before 12)
2. Simmons gen 3
3. C&A MtX
4. slydog powderhound 8"
Let me know what you thnik?

I like my MTX skis with the aggresive snowtrackers...float waaaay better then the stock skis and didn't break the bank... I was also able to use the snotrackers off my stockers which was also a bonus...think I did the switch for less then $200 (bought 2nd hand skis and the longer ski bolt and hardware).

7" powderhounds with 6" shapers made a huge difference for my xtx and my buddies 08 rtx, was very happy with them on the trail and floated well off trail.
I just picked up a pair of the 8" powderhounds at haydays to try since I was getting some unwanted pushing when off trail and trying to use the skis to turn. The rep said the deeper keel, deeper snow intake and stiffer construction should help with that. Won't know for a few more months unfortunately.

Simmons Gen III 8" Ski. Awesome on trail and off. Very adjustable/tunable to your style. If your going to run large carbides get the OFT Steering relocator and makes the steering buttery smooth and very soft. I can steer my sled with my pinky fingers with two 6" carbides on each side! And this is with the limiter strap tighten up one notch.

I have the Yamaha MTX skis as well (pre 2012) and I am completely satisfied with them.
I had DOO 6.9 pilots before these but found they pushed in the corners, floated good, I think the MTX skis are better in every regard! I have no reason to try another ski.

C&A Xtx skis. 7-1/4"w with a trail keel. Floats when it should, and bites when it should on the trails. Add a 6" shaper and you have a great ski for your riding

I've had both the Slydog Powderhound 7's and the C&A MTX skis on my XTX. I like the C&As much more.

Curves with LE will do the job just fine.

humm.. seems that everybody has it's own preference
one thing for sure is that they are all better than the stock ones.
currently, i'm down to 2 model.
slydog powder(7 or 8, i don't know yet)
c&a xtx.
but i'm more looking into used stock cause i don't want to spend 500-600$ on this.
if you ear something about a set for sale. let me know!

Forget the cost and run the split rails. Best upgrade I ever made. huge forward bite and float good. increases ski stance.
